Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was stolen from a public bike rack at the Pratt St. Beach next to tennis courts at point where lakefront walking/ running path begins. This is a very public location, about 10 yards from the park district trailer set up facing the lake. I assume the lock was cut unless a very smart person watched me turn the tumblers. I have called 311 to file the report but I have been indefinitely placed on hold. I have no photos of the bike.

My neighbor saw a teenager wearing a gold shirt with a skateboard climb our fence and he took my bike and ran out the back gate with it.

Bike was stored in my garage, left garage open for 5 minutes when I went inside quickly on Monday afternoon around 4pm and a bum stole it from my garage. Witness described him as a tall, skinny, older man (50's) who was black. Have seen similar bum with messed up teeth prior to incident.

A thief cut the lock and it was my first bike and it was a Chaos Thruster and it meant the world to me Please Please Find it

I went to lunch and locked my bike to the bike rack in front of the Dunkin Donuts. When I came back the bike was gone and the cable lock was cut and left on the ground. A guy in Dunkin Donuts told me he saw the whole thing. We drove around looking for the individual with no luck. Apparently the theif was walking around with a backpack, saw the bike, pulled out cable cutters from the bag, snipped the lock and took off on my bike. :(

My bike was stolen in broad daylight off of a bike rack in front of my office building. The thief cut through my u-lock with some type of saw or grinder. There are marks on the lock where you can see trenches cut by the blade.

Incident was done at a heavy populated and trafficked area of the Chicago Midway Orangeline station. It was located on the bicycle rack closes to the "Kiss&Ride" parking lot where people are dropped/picked up from train station, bus station, and airport terminal.

Bike was locked to a black U-Frame bike rack outside of Maggiano's. I work in building next door. Busy area and have always locked bike there with others.

The bike was taken from a shared residential garage sometime between 9:30 & 10 PM on 8/15. There is no forcible entry to the garage, therefore the overhead door may have been accidentally left open for a short time. The differences between the current look and the way it is pictured is the addition of a Trek rear rack and grey/black ergo grips. The front pannier rack was not on there and neither were the bottle cage or the seat cover.

We had our tandem locked with a reinforced cable and ulock in our parking space in our condo garage. I, unfortunately, had only threaded the reinforced cable through the bicycle and attached it to the ulock which secured to a metal pole. The thief simply cut the cable, rolled away on the bike, and left our ulock dangling unharmed. We generally did not keep the tandem in the garage, but circumstances did not allow us to bring it into our unit on Friday night. Someone had left the garage door open for a few hours on Saturday morning, so the theft could have occured anytime between 7:00am and 10:00am.

Bike was last seen locked to my livestrong fixed gear, which was locked to my giant NRS1, which was locked to a steel tube. It had three locks on it in front of my enclosed parking space at 1910 s state st. I saw it saturday, august 13th at 5pm, then came down to car on the 14th at 3pm and it was gone. Bikes have been stolen and condos broken into in our building recently.

Bike was stolen from the corner of the old police station on addison (corner of addison and halsted) during market days. I had a kryptonite rope with key on the bike and I'm guessing it was cut. they couldn't get one of the wheels which was in a ulock with another one of my bikes (I couldn't angle both into it). No lock not bike was there when I got back a few hours later. Took place between 3pm and 6pm. The person who got my bike also got another of my bikes, a Black DAWES road bike that was in the same lock.

Wish I had a picture of the bike, but it was a pretty standard Coda. I had the bike locked through with a u-lock and a combo lock chain. When I returned to the rack, the bike was gone, but the u-lock was still there, sitting on top of another u-lock that in retrospect was a warning that that was not a safe place to lock my back. Not sure how he or she did it, but I guess it wasn't locked as well I had intended.

Stopped at my friends apt after a long ride and entered through the side ally gate that is only accessible by tenants. Left my bike behind dumpsters out of street view while at dinner. Came back at 9:30 and my bike was gone, even the helmet. Bike was not locked because I thought it would be secure behind a locked gate out of street view.

Locked bike outside REI on Halsted, in the store for about 45 mins, when I came out it was gone. Bike was locked to a bike rack, using a U-lock, so bit confused how they managed to get through it so quickly.

I had come with some friends to my apartment to grab a bike for one of my friends. We left the bike in the back of my apartment complex, of which there is only one way to get to. The bike was completely out of sight of anyone from the street (a good 150 feet from the front of the building). We were inside for 5 to 8 minutes max, the first few minutes of which my neighbor was on her patio. Whoever stole my bike left their black bike behind.

There were two locks on the bike: one combination, one u-lock. I believe both were cut through, perhaps the combination was deciphered though unlikely as I roll every number before leaving it everyday. It was locked INSIDE the Midway Orange Line Station so I assume this was someone who professionally steals and re-sells bikes for profit either online or via garage sales during the Summer.

Stolen from garage where it was hanging from rafters; nothing else is missing, including easy-to-carry tools, so I suspect the thief is a child. Will be on the lookout for the bike in River Park, which is across the street from our home.

Sometime around midnight someone stole the bike. The front and rear wheels were locked, along with the frame to a 15 ft high sign post. No evidence remains as to whether the lock was cut or picked. The criminals took the locks with them. Admin note-- upon request for clarification victim offered: "I usually use a U lock to lock the front wheel and frame to the pole that I am locking the bike to. I also string a flexible 4 foot metal cable through the rear wheel and thread the ends through the u lock to prevent my rear wheel from getting stolen. I started doing this after I had my rear wheel stolen a few years back when I lived in Wicker Park." Both the bike lock and cable were made by OnGuard.
