Stolen right in front of city workers anda group of 4 people. They watched him break my lock and take my bike 15 minutes before I walked outside.He could barely ride it because of the wheel base and it takes time to learn to ride

I locked my bike to the black bike locks in front of the DePaul University library on Kenmore around 3:50 PM today. I returned at 8 PM after work, and my bike was gone without a trace. No bike, no lock. I love my bike, and it's my main mode of transportation. If anyone spots it, please contact me. It may have been one of multiple bikes stolen from that area as usually there are quite a few bikes on that street, and when I found my bike stolen, there was only one other one on the entire street.

The bike was only left for a few minutes. That makes me wonder whether I locked it properly, but I think I did. There was no lock or evidence of a cut lock at the location.

Bike was stolen from courtyard of the coach house.

I thought I locked the bike in the alley behind the studio I was rehearsing in. I had made a phone call and been waiting for about 10 minutes, then when my friends arrived I went inside. I did not actually find my lock until this morning at the bottom of my bag. I feel the most stupid about "thinking" I locked it.

I locked my bike up at 7:30 a.m. to go into work for 3 and 1/2 hours. When I came out to go home it was gone. Someone broke the lock and took the bike.

Someone stole it off the back porch, we are usually going up and down so I didn't think it needed locking, unfortunately it did!

I ran into Neo for a sec to see a friend play, popped out an hour later and it was gone. Totally heartbroken.

Stolen in high traffic area right in front of busy restaurant with all glass front and sidewalk cafe with customers 10 feet away

I locked it up under the Ashland Green Line stop. I believe that someone came by and cut the lock and rode away.

Using a cable, I locked the bike frame onto a vertical scaffolding pole, underneath a canopy, on a sidewalk, along a busy street, in front of a closed business. When I returned, the bike was gone. The scaffolding company said that likely one end of the pole was unscrewed from its horizontal support post, enabling the bike to be easily slipped off, along with its lock. I didn't know that scaffolding was this vulnerable to disassembly. It looks like the bolt that attaches the pole to the horizontal post could have been unscrewed without too much trouble--but I don't know for sure that it was. Also, since the bike was locked in front of a closed business, the thief had plenty of privacy. Remember: Never lock your bike onto scaffolding or onto ANY removable, disassemble-able object. I was careless, now I'm sad.

I had it locked to the no parking/tow away zone sign next to the train station, since they would not allow me to take the bycicle home on the Metra train. Since I knew I would be around late on Tuesday, and I was under the impression that the road usually had people coming/going, as well as both CPD, and Metra police patrolling the area, that the bike would be safe. Apparently the criminal(s) were able to remove the screw that held the sign to its base, and lift it out, in order to get the bycicle without needing to spend the time cutting the lock right there. There was a camera nearby, but to my chagrin the security guard of the building let me know that I had locked my bike in one of the few spots the camera did not capture.

Bike was locked in front of my apartment the evening before (8/15) and missing when I woke up the next morning (8/16)

Left the bike locked with a four-digit number password lock right outside University Hall, around 10 a.m. Bike and lock both missing when I came back around 7 p.m.

At 12:00 on 8/17, I noticed my bike was missing and the railing was snapped where my bike was locked. I spoke with my neighbors, and one reported it was missing she came home at 10PM 8/16. I found the piece of railing in a local neighbor's yard, and they reported that it was not there yesterday 8/16.

My bicycle was just stolen (Aug 16, 2009) from the Barnes and Noble at 1414 W. Webster Ave in Chicago at about 8pm. It was locked to a bike rack directly in front of the store with a cable lock. (Usually I use two locks but I forgot my U-Lock.) It is a black Cannondale Bad Boy size Medium with front and rear lights. It also has a place on the frame just under the seat to attach a U-Lock. I purchased it for $750 in July of 2007. There are a few scratches on the frame but other than that it's in great shape.

Went into Harold Washington Library for 2 hours at 3:00 on Friday. There must have been lots of cars and people around. I guess it only takes a second to cut a cable. That bike was big and HEAVY, but fun to ride.

Left bike in front of parkhouse to use the bathroom at the end of the airshow. Came back out to a stolen bike

Returned from ride at approximately 3:35 pm. Walked bike to yard and the proceeded to enter house for garage key. Returned within 3 minutes and bike was gone. Locks on front and rear gates were in tact, thief had to have jumped fence and threw bike over fence, either rode away or escaped with bike in car.
