Locked my bicycle up at 9 AM, saw it around 1 PM and discovered it was missing at 5 PM. It was locked to a tree [figure eight style) and was right in front of the building I work in. The bike is dark green and black and looks pretty new. If you see my baby, please try to save her from her kidnapper!

Locked it up around 11 p.m. to a chain link fence post separating my friend's backyard from his neighbor's. I'd locked it there on Monday without any problems, and my friend had also locked his own bike there in the same manner hundreds of times without an issue. Around 7 a.m. we heard what sounded like mechanical sawing but since he lives right by the Brown Line I thought it was just construction. Can't say for sure if that was someone sawing my lock, though, because I didn't go look.

Someone broke into my locked garage during the day while I was at work, and he/she/they stole my beloved cruiser and a toolbox.

The bolt from the street sign was unscrewed late at night on July 14th into the 15th. The bike was stolen with the lock connected to it. At the same time adn presumably the same people also stole my girlfriends 1970's Schwinn. It is a woman's frame road bike with red handlebar tape.

The bike was locked with another bike to the wooden railing on the deck outside our apartment. Someone cut through the lock and left the lock, and oddly, left the other bike.

I foolishly neglected to take bike inside just one evening, instead locked it up a railing behind my house, a spot visible from the alley. Next morning I found the bike stolen and the cut cable on the ground.

Bike just disappeared - I usually lock my bike less than a block away from my place. When I left my apartment this morning, it was nowhere in sight. Nothing left to pole, nothing!

I locked my bike up in the morning to take the train to work. I'm honestly not sure what happened; my bike was far from the best one in the lot. Someone must have decided to take mine becuase they could cut through my lock (the bike shop that tuned it up said that was possible). I am very sad that the FIRST day i decided to commute with my bike someone took it from me. I am angry.I will pay a reward for its' return.

Locked my bike at the Metra Station at 430pm on Saturday, July 11th and returned the next morning- Sunday, July 12th to find that my bike was no longer there.

The tandem bike was the only item stolen from our residential garage, accessible only through the alley, behind a locked gate. The other bike was not touched, nor were any of the items of value in the yard. Bike must have been walked away or put in a vehicle, as it had a flat front tire (or the rider definitely damaged the rims). Garage was not locked, just the 6' iron gate leading to the garage was.

The bike was stolen from an unlocked garage between the hours of 2:00AM and 6:30 PM on July 11,2009.

so yes, I'm an idiot, simply an idiot. i know this, and I accept it, and to be honest I probably deserve my damn bike getting stolen. I locked my bike but one side of the U-lock hadn't completely gone in and I didn't realize it. Though the whole situation is a little hazy I wasn't completely 100% aware of my surroundings at the time. There were tons of bikes there(there was a party upstairs), and I made the mistake of not being careful due to my naive trust in mankind. This bike meant a lot to me, so please. If found, no questions will be asked, so please, please, dig deep inside and use whatever inkling of altruism you have to return it, please give me my baby back :(

The bike was stolen right off of my back porch. Sometome between midnight and 7am.

Cream Colored Raleigh M80 mountain bike stolen. 22 inch frame (large) Tires are unique- slick tread on top with knobbs on sides. Combination cable was cut but another combination cable still on bike.

Rode my bike to work. Arrived around 7:30. Locked it to a street sign across the street so I could watch it from the window. Looked out around 9 it was there looked up around 11 it wasn't.

I locked my bike up to a newer street sign (the ones telling people to pay at the parking box) since all the parking meters had been removed and the bike rack was full. It appears that someone unbolted the sign post and lifted it out of the housing and slid my lock out from underneath. There was no evidence of tampering with my lock, but the street sign's bolt was gone (it was there when I locked it up).

Ed note-- city bike program contacted-- response: they're "looking into it", already reported 3 times today (July 9).
