Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Showed up for work at 7:30 am. Where I was leaving at 5:45pm, the bike was gone.

The bike was stolen during the day from an unlocked ground-floor storage room at the back of an apartment building.

Bike was stolen from gate locked back porch. It was there at 11:30pm on the night of 7/19 and was missing 12pm on 7/20

The post that I used to lock the frame of my bike to is a large 8"x8" wood patio post that is cemented into the ground. I used my U-lock to lock between the front tire and the frame of the bike, and used a cable with padlock to lock the frame of the bike to the large post. In public locations, I would use the locks in the opposite application (i.e. U-lock frame to something secure) but the post was too large and this was in a discrete location in the back of my home, not visible from the street. I assume the thief cut the cable (and took it with him/her) and then took the entire bike with the U-lock to go break the U-lock off-site.

The theft happened between 8:15am when I left for work and 4pm when my neighbor got home. The theft happened at the same time my upstairs neighbors' apartment was broken into.

Bike was locked to exterior wrought iron fence in front of my apartment. Last seen at 11 pm. A speed saw cut through the u-lock, which was dropped at the scene. Had locked bike on exterior of fence in the location two days in a row after commuting from work.

Bike was stolen during a break in to my apartment.

Garage door left open by mistake.

I'm not sure when exactly it happened, but it was between 9 pm and this morning at 9 am. My building has a designated bike room and I typically keep the bike in the same convenient spot at the end so when I got home, I placed it there. I don't usually lock it as there aren't many active cyclists in the building. When I went in to get my bike to ride to work, it was gone. I suspect either another tenant from the building took it, tipped someone off or forgot to close the rear door completely and someone else came in and grabbed it. I know...it should have been locked. My building is fairly small and safe, so I guess I assumed too much.

Bike was locked to another bike which was locked to a metal gate in the courtyard of my girlfriend's residential apartment building. The courtyard has high walls and is locked to outsiders, meaning the bike was likely stolen by a resident of the building. The thief removed the wheel of the bike it was locked to. Hence they took the wheel, my bike and my kryptonite lock.

I had left my bike in the usual front stairway locked to the back wheel and frame, but not to the stairwell. (I've locked it up this way throughout the whole duration of having my bike) It was an orange kryptonite, very visible. The FRONT WHEEL is missing, as it was stolen from the Francisco Brown line station the day before. Someone must've just lifted it up and stolen it.

I have seen the security footage from our building and it was a white man who paced back and forth in front of the bike and waited til not many people walking by. White shirt with blue sleeves, jeans, black bag and jacket wrapped over the bag. Must have cut the cable and got on the bike and rode it southbound. We have video and pictures. He is bald, maybe a little less than 6 feet tall. He stole it at about 2:14pm and in front of my work - 720 N Franklin St. 60654

Someone was riding their blue Next bike and saw my bike. They left their bike there and rode away with mine. They left my wifes bike there, tan Schwinn.

It's been a bad week for stolen bikes at Turin... :( As mentioned above, we had a smash-and-grab occur on Wednesday the 17th at around 4:30am from our shop at 4710 N. Damen. They only took one bike but it was a doozy; a brand new Alchemy Eros Ti road bike with FFWD F6R carbon clinchers, DA 9000 11sp shifters and derailleurs, Rotor 3D F compact cranks, Thomson support and a yellow Fizik Aliante test ride saddle with the word "Test" in bold, all caps print. I'm pretty sure its the only one in the Chicagoland area (though I doubt its still in Chicagoland) so any one claiming to have come by it legitimately is obviously full of it.

My bike was in our basement,that's where i keep it all the time, wooden door with a lock, few hours later the door was broken and the bike was gone! Nothing else was taken from the basement just the bike!
