Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I was in Chicago visiting my son from Cleveland. I locked my bike in a bike rack on the sidewalk in Milenium Park right at the end of Washington St. a couple of hundred yards south of the Founders Wall. We crossed the street to go into Walgreens and Dunken Dounts. When we came back the bike was gone. If you are taking the time to read this THANK YOU.

Bike locked to downtown street sign in front of movie theater during course of 2-hour movie. Krypto thick keyed coil lock. No sign of bike or lock. In front of busy movie theater on Friday night with valets standing nearby

the pole didn't have a scrue so he pick up the pole with the bike still lock and roled did out with a small kid no older than 7 and he's about 6'0 feet 200+

I locked my bike to the railing (metal) leading up the front steps to my apartment. When I went back to bring my bike inside, it was gone.

I locked up in front of my girl's house and someone had a steel cutting disk powertool and sliced thru my lock. i have an aftermarket seat. and rain gaurd on my back wheel. i have a rear light mount w missing rear light. black light in front. black rubber case that holds my bike lock is mounted to my bike. they left my chain on the ground.

man, wtf? i locked up and left it for 15 min. grocery store security said they saw a Hispanic guy in a black shirt with my bike. i saw a white van with a character matching the description at the time of the incident before i got this info. i wasn't allowed to see the footage. the police said they would check the camera, does anyone know if i should check up and see if they actually did? saw a guy get shot in the stomach earlier that day. man, wtf? Admin note: victim told by Pete's Market management that he is not allowed to view surveillance film without a court subpoena. Management unwilling to help further.

Locked my bike outside of work to go in and be a contributing member of society around 8 AM, left around 6:10 and saw my Kryptonite lock sawn in half.. just then a police car pulled up and told me someone had called in saying a man with a hand-held circular saw came and stole my red bike... he took my number and business card and rode off south to try and find the guy. When I placed the report the gal on the phone said as of 6:30 I was the 5th bike reported stolen that day within a couple blocks of my building. I was 15 minutes too late, doh!

I had an early morning shift at work, and locked my bike at 4:45 a.m. and went in to work at 250 E Superior St. It was near the street, yet in view of the security desk at Prentice Women's Hospital. I went out to check on it during my break, at approximately 11:30 a.m., and neither bike nor lock was present. I imagine that an opportunistic bike thief with a cable cutters happened upon it and simply cut the cable and walked off with it. I've only worked at this address and parked my bike at it twice, so I don't think that the incident could have been premeditated.

I was working in my apartment very late, and I heard some roaring noise outside but I didn't think to look outside to where my bike was parked. The next morning I looked out and noticed that my bike was gone and also the janitor of the building noticed it was gone too and asked me what happened. We both saw the "cut" u-shaped kryptonite lock(in two pieces) on the ground near where it was parked. I'm sure it happened very late at night or early morning --- I'd say around 3:00am. I think somebody has seen me park my bike out front of my building all the time or the thief was cruising up and down the quiet streets looking for parked bikes outside.

I parked my bike at the Sheridan stop, had purchased it at Sports Authority on April 4th, it was stolen June 4th. I was gone for maybe an hour, came back and the bike and lock were gone. I attempted to file a claim through my renters insurance but I have a $500 deductible so it was a wash. My only thought it that someone cut the lock. There is a restaurent close to the train stop and I spoke to the staff but no one saw anything.

Bike stolen from in front of where I work. Walked out at the end of my shift and it was gone.

went into gas station after july 30th critical mass and when i came out bike was gone

Some time in the middle of the night someone cut through my U-lock and stole my bike from in front of my house.

I left my bike locked to a rack around 10am in broad daylight to take a train. After returning in a few hours it was gone. Broad daylight at a busy intersection.

Perpetrator broke into garage and took bike.

There's a chance it might have no been attached to the lock bar that the Jefferson Park blue line bike stations provide. Although I believe I did lock it properly, there's always a chance of error. The lock was certainly put thogh both wheels. Judging by the position my bike was facing, the thief probably have been walking twords the blue line terminal seeing as on the other side there is another large bike rack which eclipses the other side pretty well and on the side facing street is covered by a large sheet of metal.

Bicycle was stolen from place of storage, under back stairs in gated rear courtyard.

I was watching a movie when it happened, so incident could have been anywhere between 11:00 pm and 1 am. Bike was locked to fence outside River East theater, there was filming of Transformers movie across the street going on at the time.

The bike was located in secured porch area of our condo. The bike was in view from outside the gate. The gate was probably left open allowing the perp to quickly grab the bike.

Bike was U-locked to my Trek Y3 and was last seen 2 weeks before theft was discovered. Thief must have known that bikes were in the storage room and was able to gain access; possibly a resident in my building. I realize it's been awhile, but this service was not around back then, and I really would like to get bike back
