Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was in my back porch on the 3rd floor. Thief entered into the back of our apartment building, up the 3 floors of the back patio and stole bike.

Bike was initially locked and covered on the back porch of residence. The cover was thrown to the side of the porch and the lock thrown in my trash. I have been sick with Covid all week, and was just notified of the theft today, so it theoretically could have happened earlier.

Tall man in white hat, grey shirt, black shorts, with black backpack. Walks up to bike on corner of California and Division in Chicago and uses angle grinder to break off U-Lock. Left the lock and road off with E-Bike. Two seater electric with white body and black wheels says Fucare down the base.

I went downstairs between 9:44 AM and 10:00 AM on 8/3/24 to pick up package from Amazon and saw that the Kryptonite cable attached to bike mount on wall at the base of our stairwell (behind closed door) had been cut and my bike had been stolen. The bike had a TiGr titanium lock on the rear wheel and frame that was attached to the Kryptonite cable as well so unless they had an angle grinder to remove that lock, they couldn't have ridden it away. The Amazon package was also missing. Nobody buzzed from Amazon to indicate their arrival and nobody in our condo building reports buzzing anyone in this morning. The bike was still there as of 9:00 PM on 8/2/24. There is no indication of forced entry and I'm not sure how the thief gained access to our locked building.

It was stolen on or around this date, could have been a few days before.

Bike was locked to the wall at Dill Pickle co-op, right by the blue line stop. it was missing afterwards... Store has cameras.

Bike was stolen over night. Lock must have been cut.

Bike was locked to a police barrier infront of the Essex hotel on Michigan Ave and 8th Street. Barrier was removed with bike attached to the barrier by the city department witnessed by front door staff of the Essex hotel.

Had my bike in my garage and locked to the cement lock I put in the floor. They forcefully entered the garage by breaking down the door and stole it.

The bike was stolen from the garage. Either garage was pried, or someone jumped the fence to open door to garage, then opened garage door and stole it.

Returned home and garage door was open. Other door to garage had been unlocked at some point. Two bikes were taken.

I lock my bike to the fence of a flower box on the sidewalk whenever I go to my workout class. I arrived at 4:45 pm to class and when I left at 6:30 pm my bike was still locked where it was. I went over to the restaurant next door and when I left the restaurant at 9:45 pm, my bike and the lock were gone.

[ On 7/28/24, the victim notified us that the bike had been recovered: "I posted today about a stolen 2018 LIV Avail. I just wanted to update you guys and say we recovered the bike in under 24 hours somehow. The person who stole the bike, sold it to someone on the street. That person posted it on Facebook marketplace to find the owner because he knew it was stolen, and we were able to pick it up! Thanks for this resource though. We had a few people reach out who helped us use multiple channels to find the bike!"] At approximately 10:45pm outside of Remedy on Milwaukee Ave, a white male about 50 years old wearing blue shorts, a black backpack, a blue IKEA type bag, and a black hat, used bolt cutters to cut the lock on our bikes. He stole the 2018 Black LIV Avail and then took off northbound on Milwaukee Ave heading towards Western Ave. The bar has video of the entire event and clear still images of the thief. Will provide serial number if found.

We were moving out of the apartment and garage I'm moving out of and into our new one. The garage was unlocked for maybe 15 minutes and was stolen in the meantime. I have an airtag on the bike which we tracked to a specific address in McKinley park.

Unsure of exact time, bike left in garage in usually very safe area. Locked and closed garage.

I locked the bike to a city-provided bike lock stand around 10:30am outside of Century Shopping Centre at 2828 N Clark St. in Chicago, IL. I confirmed the bike lock was locked and scrambled, and then armed an alarm system that would go off if the bike was tampered with. Approximately 1hr30m later, I returned to the location and the lock was sawed (presumably) in half and the bike was gone.

The bike was stored on the first-floor apartment's inside porch, requiring a building key to enter. Two bikes were stolen off the porch between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on 7/25/24. The other bike was a Specialized Sirrus Elite with a dirty white colored frame. There was no sign of forced entry, so it was stolen by someone with a key or a door that was not properly latched. Unknown burglar and no other items were taken beside the bikes. The stolen bikes were last seen at 7 a.m.

Parked bike in my building’s garage with back wheel locked. The next morning the lock had been cut (and left) and bike was gone.
