I would leave it locked in our gated gangway for the last 2 years I've lived here.
Incident Description: 
Left bike U-locked to itself in gated gangway, woke up and it was gone. Thief carried whole bike off along with my neighbors. There were probably 6 or 7 other bikes there, as there were usually in that gangway. Don't know why they picked mine as it wasn't in great shape, just had a sentimental value.
