Someone left the gate to my courtyard unlocked. Someone came in, found the unmarked door to the stairwell, took bike and walked out.

I'm happy to report that, with the help of some great people in the Chicago Police Department, I recovered my bike. 6 months after it was stolen it was listed on craigslist where I found it. After arranging a pickup with the police's help, I finally had my bike back!
