Incident Description: 
Bike was locked in my backyard to the fence. Bike had a flat and so was left unattended until I had time to fix it, so likely the thieves could see it was unmoved for several days. My U-Lock was too short to lock it to the top bar of the fence so it was only locked to the chain link. The chain link was cut and bike taken away.
