Incident Description:
I live on the third floor of a walkup. We use our back patio as our front door. The bike is usually locked, buut I had been having trouble with my lock and was cleaning the rust off of the lock mechanism. At the time the bike was stolen, it had been unlocked for several hours, but I never thought twice about it because we are three floors up and I have two dogs that usually bark at everything.
At 6 PM, I took one dog out and the bike was there. Around 6:45 PM, I took the other dog out and noticed the bike was missing. I had been nearby and had heard no one on the stairs and no indication that someone had approached our unit.
