Bike has been stored in the bike room at the ground level of my apartment building for two months. Last checked on my bike 10/8 PM and it was there with the lock in tact. On 10/10 early AM, the bike was gone and the lock was cut. I recently went out of town for a week, and suspect that whoever stole my bike had noticed that the bike had not moved for some time, and was planning on the right moment to steal it. There are cameras in the foyer of my building, and I have contacted my leasing office to hopefully get footage of the person who took my bike.

Time listed is when discovered. Bike was last seen evening of 10/4. Bike was locked to rack in interior courtyard outside 31-unit condo building, accessible through gate to alley. Gate should have been locked (requiring key to open), though I suspect was not. Cable was wrapped around bike rack, and connected to bike with a u-lock through its loops and around the bike frame. The cable loops were cut and the bike and U-lock missing.

Bike was locked to a metal pole in our storage area with a Kryptonite NEW YORK CHAIN 1210 (9/10 Security Rating) along with an On Guard U lock. Thief took the bike and the locks. Visible burn marks can be seen on the pole it was secured to and white dust/ shavings can be seen below where it was secured. Looks like the thief cut the locks with power tools. [Recovery notes: On 10/15/20 the victim wrote: I have great news to share with you! Two individuals using the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry found my bike for sale on social media. I contacted the seller, set up a meet and was able to recover my stolen bike.]
