Incident occurred sometime between Friday, June 14 afternoon and Monday, June 18 at 11 am in the common room lobby of the apartment at 5128 S Kimbark Ave (managed by Kass Management. Outside gate and building are both locked. The bike was locked to the common space bike rack with a cable attached to a U-lock. The cable was cut and I found it this morning. The bike is royal blue mountain bike with the word "CANNONDALE" and "F7" written down the side of the frame. Thick black tires, black seat, and straight handlebars, with grey tennis tape wrapped around the grips of the handlebars. The back of the bike has a solid metal black bike rack attached upon which a grey milk crate was attached with zip ties (possibly removed by thief). There was also a small handheld tire pump clipped to the side of the frame. I bought the bike used two years ago but it is in excellent condition.

My bike was taken from a locked bike room on the ground floor in my apartment complex (1714 W Roscoe, where I lived at the time of incident). There is a back door entrance on the ground floor someone could have gained access through as well as entering through the front entrance and heading all the way back to the back of the building - both doors require a building key to access. My bike was locked in the bike room on 4/9. When I went to get it on 4/18, it was gone. My bike lock was not present either. So at some point in that week between going to the bike room, someone entered the locked bike room, got the lock of my locked bike and stole it.

A police report has been filed, but now that I have my bike registered I thought this might be more effective. My bike was locked inside a fob entry bike room, which also has a camera in the room. There a racks to hang your bike on, only one wall has bike racks w/ bars you can attach a lock to, and mine was on the wall you can't fit a lock onto. So my bike, thought locked in the room, it was not locked to the rack.
