I believe the theft took place in the early morning hours with professional tools to get through the kryptonite u-lock. The cut on the lock was clean which tells me these were professionals. From what I understand, it takes up to 15 minutes to get through a U-lock and it is a very loud procedure and a ton of sparks are produced.

Black handle bar tape with two-three inches of white athletic tape on the bottom tips of the drop bars. Cushioned black/silver seat with reflecting paint on the back side of the seat. There was an orange 57th street co-op bookstore plastic bag underneath the seat for rainy day riding. Silver shift gear levers -- the right gear shifter had white athletic tape on the tip of it.

Left my bike unlocked on my second floor balcony porch of a three-story condominium complex. From the back alley three-story wooden staircase, someone jumped over the wooden railing to gain access to my locked back porch and grabbed the bike and walked down two flights of stairs. I found the baseball cap that was attached to the bike frame further down the alley; I'm assuming they rode down the alley heading northbound after disposing of any unique identifiers. It was broad daylight outside and I was in my apartment when the bike was stolen.
