Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike was stolen from my garage somehow.

I'm pretty sure that someone went through this neighborhood with some industrial chain cutters and took every bike without a u lock. I'm fairly certain we will not see anyone riding this bike around as I found this perfect match of my bike on craigslist today. http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/bik/1870215614.html Also, anybody that knows anything about bikes would know this bike isn't worth the craigslist asking price of $500. I bought it for $450 on clearance 5 years ago! Hopefully someone here can help. Thanks!

Bike was left for the night and discovered missing around 7 am

Bike was locked overnight to gate. The person stole the frame and one of the wheels.

Left the bike in my locked garage around 9 pm Tuesday. Wednesday morning the bike was gone and the side door was left ajar. Nothing else was taken.

Thieves used grinder to saw off lock during the day. Occurred underneath train station on Van Buren street.

My wife and I stopped at Beachstro for lunch. I locked both bikes together with a cable lock and we ate lunch. returned to bike 45-60 minutes later and cable was cut. My wife's Trek 7200 was not stolen. Told the restaurant manager the 3 police officers that were 50' away.

Bike was stolen from backyard, as well as my roommates considerably newer and nicer Raleigh. We believe the thief hopped our fence and then let themselves out from the inside.

From the hours of 2000 july 27th 2010 to 0900 july 28th 2010, my Black Raleigh One Way 27" single speed bicycle was stolen from my locked back yard. The Bike was placed there after work, against a tree in my locked back yard. It is very difficult to see into the yard due to the fence being very tall. One other bike was stolen from the yard during that time, but nothing else. There seems to be no signs of break in, and my helmet was taken along with the bike.

Bike was locked to the 4" thick wooden support rail of my porch overnight. Was there @ 7am when I left for work in a downpour, but was gone by the time my neighbor awoke at noon. Thieves cut through porch railing with a reciprocating saw or jigsaw and removed spindles to free u-lock. ***

Second of my two bikes stolen from my locked garage overnight.

Both my bikes were taken from my locked garage. The garage was still locked when I realized they were missing.

Stolen from back porch, second story. Must have climbed up the side of the building to get it!

Bike was locked to the ceiling of my garage by two 3/8" eyebolts that were epoxied to the ceiling joists. A cable lock with padlock was used to lock both the front tire and rear tire to the frame and then the ceiling. In addition to the cable lock, there was a kryponite u-lock locking the front tire to the frame. Thieves broke into the garage and broke the eyebolts from the ceiling joists. Locks were carried off with the bike (there was no way they could ride it from the scene).

I went to a going away party and left the bike locked to a solid metal fence outside. When I went outside to leave the bike was gone along with my helmet and lock. There were no apparent signs of how the lock was defeated.

Bike parked outside of office building during normal work hours. Pretty public and well traveled area. Security camera footage available. Left me their 1/2 inch rachet socket in their rush. Hopefully some moron who works in my building did this.

My bike was stored inside my locked apartment building on the ground floor. Sometime between 2:00 AM and 9:00 AM, a thief (or thieves) picked the lock and broke in to our building (though not into my actual apartment thankfully). My bike was not locked to anything because it was stored inside a locked building (which I had assumed would be safe enough).

Went to visit friend in his apt. for a second. When I came down, bike was gone.

Bike lock was cut, lock and helmet left at the scene.

Bike was in foyer of apartment building on June 23 and was gone on the morning of June 24. Someone entered the (locked) apartment building and stole the bike. A neighbor's bike was stolen a month later, on July 23, when the lock to the front of the apartment building was broken.
