Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked bike in front of open business with heavy foot traffic at approximately 10 pm. Locked bike and husband's bike with one lock to the street sign. Went to go see a movie at AMC Theater. When we walked back to the bikes the lock was cut and left on the ground and my bike was missing (was locked on the outside). Husband's was left behind. We waited several minutes to see if someone was coming back for his bike too. Nobody suspicious really showed and workers at the Grand Lux that were parked right beside the bikes did not notice anything unusual.

I was at the Chicago History Museum at 8:00 PM until 9:45 PM, at which time I couldn't find my bike, but found my bike lock sitting where my bike was. Whoever stole it cut through the cable and walked away with the bike.

Somebody walked up, unscrewed the front wheel, cut the cable and took off with the bike.

The bike was stolen from our garage

Not sure what happened. I locked my bike up when it was raining. It rained for a few days so I kept being unable to go get it. I came back when the rain stopped and there was no trace that my bike had been where I locked it.

My bike was locked up overnight outside of my job. It was here when I left last night at 6:30pm and gone when I got back at 10:30 am this morning. The lock was cut clean thru and left on the ground. My bike is older, covered in electric tape and short.

BCBS Building Security has film showing the bike was stolen @ 3:20PM Sunday. I arrived and locked the bike at 1:00PM ealier the same day. Bike was locked up for 2hours 20 mins before being stolen.

Bike was stored in garage which was broken into and taken.

I left my condo in the morning only to find my bike missing. Bike was locked up using a Kryptonite U-lock.

I rode my bike home from work on a Monday and got a flat tire, so I locked it up outside my residential building, which is also in front of a bar. I thought leaving it out for a day or two before I took it to the bike shop to get my flat tire fixed would be fine, but obviously I learned a very expensive lesson. I went to work Wednesday morning and didn't think to look for my bike, but when I arrived home after work that day it was gone. I believe it probably happened between 2am-6am when not a lot of traffic or people are out on the streets.

Bicycle was parked in front of my apartment & a 24/7 laundry business, with one U lock through the front wheel, frame, and sign post and another through the rear wheel & frame. I last saw my bike at approximately 8am on Saturday, July 28th. I noticed that it was missing, locks and all, on Sunday, July 29th at approximately 5pm. The sign itself does not appear to have been tampered with in any way, so it is my guess that they popped the lock somehow & took it with them.

Bike was locked in fenced in back yard with strong U-lock to front tire and chainlink fence. There was no sign of theft but the bike and lock were gone and fence was intact. Someone came in our fenced in back yard and took the bike.

I was in a hurry and used my cable/combination lock to lock my bike (front wheel and frame) to a light pole outside my friend’s house. It was parked in the front on Webster pretty close to their door near a street corner (in a relatively busy, safe area). About an hour later my boyfriend arrived and discovered my bike was missing. The thief had cut my lock, left it and my helmet (still attached to lock) by the light pole. We ran outside immediately, a few people checked around the apartment building and down the street but found nothing. It appears there is a video camera on the building directly across from where my bike was at 357 Webster. We are currently still trying to locate the property manager and get the video. It would be amazing if it is located! It was my main mode of transportation, I feel lost without it.

Bike is used to get to work every day. I always lock it with 2 U-locks. One on the frame against solid object and one thru the front tire to a solid object. I went out of town for the weekend and when I came back last night the bike was gone. The bike was locked against a staircase railing, which is solid metal, unmovable in concrete, in the back of the building with a well lit area and with security cameras all over the place. Still someone was able to defeat the U-lock and make off with the bike. My wife's bike Trek SR 3700 was also stolen from the same location in the same manner. Report has already been filed.

My bike and my neighbor's bike were parked in the garage, where they are usually parked. When we went into the garage to take out the garbage, the garage door was open, our bikes were gone, and there was a mountain bike lying down in the middle of the garage. It looks as if the thief came in, ditched their bike, and took ours. We have no idea how they got the garage door open.

Bike was locked at 111th street metra stations in Morgan park. Happened sometime from 8am to 7pm on August 9, 2012

I parked my bike at Millennium Park McDonalds bike center. I went to the grass at millennium park to do yoga, Pilates, & Zumba class. Then went to get my bike but it was gone. My husbands and daughters bike was there locked up. Our bikes were not locked together but seperately.

If it was stolen by someone from outside the building, it had to be 2+ people or one very strong person as the bike was heavy. The neighbors at 7359 N. Seeley can easily look into the patio area and do. Sadly, there are many people who don't work and smoke pot in that building.
