Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I had ridden the bicycle to Evanston, and was not allowed to take it back on the train. I locked it up below the Noyes Purple line stop on Evanston. I was unable to return to Evanston for several days, and by the time I got back the lock had been clipped and left on the ground, and the bike was gone.

I made coffee in a french press and just got back from walking the dog. I was in then out. When I was on the out way after just walking the , i saw my bike when I went in . 10 minutes later when I went to hop on the bike it was gone. I made a police report and will post the details later.

Locked up bike outside Ravenswood Antique Mart- last checked on it at midnight and when I woke up at 9am both wheels had been stolen, as had the back wheel of bike parked next to mine. My bike was U-locked through the frame (newer u-lock with flat key) to the bike rack with a cable lock (long kryptonite cable) through both tires and the ulock. Cut cable was left at the scene. My frame was still u-locked to the bike rack. Bike next to mine (do not know the owner) had back wheel taken by what appears to have been defeat of standard fixie bolt on wheel- removed with a wrench.

I went away for a business trip and forgot to bring my bike inside. When I came back to my apartment, I found the bike lock still attached to the pole. It had been cut and the bike was gone.

Bike was locked outside "Beyond the Ivy" front entrance to a tree during the Atlanta Braves game Thursday afternoon. It was stolen between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. as the lock was cut. I know, use the bike Valet.... I was on the roof at the time.

I was in the garden and the person pried open the locked gate and took the bike. The bike itself was not locked to anything, but the gate had a lock on it. The person pried open the "claw" part of the lock and got it up enough to open the door, the lock was on it the whole time. It's brown and red with a big seat that has an "S" on it. The gear/chain protector has been sawed off on the rear end, about 4 inches - there are marks on it from the sawing, and from when it got caught in the chain. There is a blue sticker from my building with the number "179" for my parking space. There was also a helmet and lock hanging from the handle bars. It was purchased at Kozy's - there may be one of their stickers on it?

I'm assuming since I left it over night at the logan square blue line, someone picked the lock and stole my bike. Nothing unique about this situation that I can think of..

The Newer U-Lock with flat key was not defeated. The frame is still there but they stole anything that could be unscrewed

I locked up my bike to go visit my girlfriend, shook the pole to make sure it was sturdy and that the lock was secure. When I returned, the bike was gone with no sign of the lock or theives

I locked my bike to a bike rack on Kedize under the bridge of the Metra tracks and rode the Metra. By the time I returned, someone had cut my lock and stolen my bike and helmet. I suspect whoever stole it intends to sell the bike and the helmet (perhaps together).

I have no idea what could have happened. I locked my bike to a fence just outside Wicker Park Fitness. I was in the gym approximately 2.5 hours and when I came out, the bike was gone.

I locked my bike outside Starbucks and went in at 3pm to take a conference call. I had a view of the bike rack from my table but was busy with the call and did not see the theft take place. When I got off at 3:45pm, the bike was gone, only my helmet and the broken lock remained.

I locked my bike to a massive tree using a cable around the tree and a newer U lock w/flat key around the frame. I was away from it between 3 and 5:45 pm on Monday 8/22/2011. Neither the U Lock or the Cable were left at the scene, making me think they simply cut through the cable.

Was out of town and had a house/dog sitter. Friend came home and heard someone in the backyard. She went out called the police and the person escaped through a neighbors gangway.

* Since this picture has been taken- I swapped out the white seat for a black Trek seat and the hardware store review mirror was added to the left side. Came home around 11pm-ish last night (8/22) and this morning when I went outside to go to work (6:45am 8/23) nothing was there except for my cut lock.

Bike frame was locked to a bike rack on Green St, just north Jackson Blvd, at 6:00 PM. Bike and lock were gone by 8:45 PM.

Bicycle was locked to another biycle and to a good sized tree. Bike frames were locked together with u-locks and a cable was used to secure the 4 wheels to the frames and tree. Owners parked the bikes at 12pm on the sidewalk on the east side of CHicago Ave in Evanston across from the South Evanston Purple Line Station. when they came back for the bikes around 2:15pm they were gone. No locks or cable at the scene and the tree was unharmed.

My bike was locked up on my back porch for a few weeks with a newer u-lock w/flat key. Just move in recently. I belief that the thieves are sweeping the neighborhood. Our neighbor's bike was stolen a few days prior. Then, they couldn't cut the u-lock that I had, so they broke the railing and must have thrown the bike in the back of a truck/van. They also stole my roommate's front tire from his bike. It happened in the middle of the day. My roommate has left his bike on that same porch for over a year with no incidents. Has even left it unlocked for weeks at a time. There's been a great deal of stolen bikes reported in Lincoln Park area recently.

2 bikes were locked together and to a tree. Bike Frames were U-locked to each other on either side of the tree, a cable was also used to secure the 4 wheels to the frames and tree. Bikes were locked at 12pm outside the apartment buildings on Chicago ave. across from the South Evanston Purple Line Stop. When the owers came out to retrieve their bikes at 2:15pm they were gone. No sign of the cable or the u-locks and the tree was unharmed.

The bike was locked to a fence, in a high traffic area. The cable lock was cut, bike was stolen in a matter of minutes. the bike was last seen at 11am it was stolen by 11:15.
