Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked my Trek 7.1FX to the bike racks in front of the Chicago-Kent Law School at 9:10am, using cable locks through both wheels and the frame. Came out of class at 12:00pm, and the bike was gone, along with the locks.

After biking home from work at midnight, I brought my bike into my apartment and to our back porch, where I usually keep it. The stairs are covered and I hung the bike on a hook. However, I foolishly did not lock it. A thief must have seen one of my roommates' bikes in the visible section of the porch from the alley way and hopped the (locked) yard gate. Then the thief must've taken my bike (only my bike) from the hook and carried it over the gate and made off with it. This happened sometime over night as I went out on our porch around 11 am the next morning and it was gone.

Bike was locked to a 8 ft tall metal sign post at the Morton Grove Metra Station. No tampering of the sign was seen. A U-lock connected the frame to the post, and a cable lock was run through each tire, the frame, and then wrapped around the metal post. I'm guessing they somehow broke the locks.

My bike was stolen from my condo's garage. It was practically a brand new bike.

We had been in the taste of Chicago for about an hour. We had both locked are bikes, in the bike safety zone at the end entrance of millenium park, came back and her bike was missing (including the bike lock) which was locked right next to mine; however mine was still there. Probably due to the value of her bike or something like that, however it was a gift from my mother to her and really hurt her. Just trying to make things right and hoping that it turns up somewhere. I am beginning to grow suspicious if it was a worker who may have stolen it that works at the bike rental place right in front of the bike safety lock up zone (which proves to be not so safe after all).

As I was going to work early in the morning, I was not thinking well and inappropriately locked up my bike, I must have missed the frame and only locked up the front wheel. Well, they took the frame, leaving me my front wheel locked to the bike rack with a U-lock.

My bike was locked in the basement of my apartment building. The doors to the basement are supposed to be locked at all times. There have been a lot of thefts in this building before. Earlier this year my fiance had his laptop and tv stolen out of his apartment. I live on a college campus, so there are not many people around now that it's summer... it's probably easier to steal stuff.

Bike was JUST bought and was outside for less than 4 days. Last day it was seen and locked up was the afternoon of Saturday June 19th. It was noticed missing June 22nd at 6am

My bike was locked up on the front porch of my apartment, with a kryptonite u-lock and cable through both wheels to a metal fence on the first floor (6 feet above ground) along with two other bikes. The other bikes were left alone, whoever stole the bikes just took mine. When I left the house at 8am, it was missing.

i locked the bike to a rack when i went to the bar. when i came back after the bar closed, it was gone.

I came home at 2 AM Sunday morning. Brought my bike into locked storage gated area to my building. Sometime between 2 AM-10AM my bike along with another locked bike was stolen. Both Moutain Bikes. They did leave the cruiser alone.

I lost my keys inside Lillstreet Art Center. As some point in time overnight (between 5pm June 26th and 4pm on the 27th) my bike was stolen. I presume that the thief found my keys and unlocked my bike.

Two bikes were locked with a cable to a chicago light pole on a crowed sidewalk in front of a sidewalk restaurant patio. We went in to have a drink, and when we came out both bikes and lock were gone

Similar bike overlooked on 1st floor porch, locked with a U-lock. My bike was locked to the metal bars of the porch on the 2nd floor with a OnGuard Doberman Combo.

Bike was left on back deck after I came home from a ride. Someone gained access to back deck through garages, or climbed a fence. Bike was left unattended for 20 minutes.

I was asleep at the time, but it looks like someone chopped through the wrought-iron fence it was locked to (with a U-lock.) Really cool.

Two bikes were taken from our boiler room, probably by way of doors left open.

The bike and one other were in the boiler room of our condo unit, somehow they got in, probably through doors left open, and stole both bikes.
