This is a custom built bicycle by Haley Trikes in Philadelphia. It is a front loading cargo bike, built for holding books: and so the box opens to show shelves and a lockable compartment. It is a 3 speed, internal hub. The BiblioTreka is a custom tricycle previously known as The Book Bike. It was custom designed by Haley Trikes with fold-out wood shelves to cycle books around Chicago. It is extremely heavy and cumbersome, and in fantastic shape. The bike itself is black and the box with the shelves is painted turquoise and white.

Bike was locked with a Kryptonite U-Lock to a wooden table, affixed to the wall. Table was broken off from the wall to steal the bike along with the lock still attached. The robber had access to our basement because the lock to the basement door was broken, and our landlord did not fix it when we called, instead waited 12 hours in which time my bike was stolen.

The fence was sawed through to remove the bike. I have kept the bike locked there all summer when not in use. Recently, we have noticed some new kids in the area that in retrospect seemed to be scouting the area. They commented on my boyfriends bike once, in a way that they wanted (and eventually planned) to take it. About a week ago, the lights on his bike were stolen, so maybe that was their way to scout out our apt building?
