Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked up bike at a rack at my school around 8 AM, gone when I came out around 5 PM.

I rode my bike to work today and locked it in the same place I always do. There's a pedestrian passage way that goes from Dearborn to Clark to the south of the 55 W Wacker building. There's a wrought iron fence there with a small bike rack. My bike had its rear wheel resting in the rack and it's front wheel/handlebars resting on top of a thick wrought iron fence. There was an ABUS chain lock going through the frame, front wheel, and fence. I arrived around 8:30 AM and went to work. When I went to get lunch around noon I walked by and my bike was still locked to the fence, so the theft happened between 12 and 6 pm, when I left work. I would guess that happened before 5 since foot traffic increases quite a bit at 5 when people get out of work. When I discovered my bike was gone I went into the 55 W Wacker building and spoke to the security guard to see if maybe they'd have security footage but was told none of their cameras capture the sidewalks outside of the building.

Two trek road bikes stolen out of private home garage. One is described above, the other is a women's pink trek bike.

Bike was locked at 20 W. Kinzie, at the bike rack next to Harry Carry's restaurant. I locked it at 8pm on Friday night and returned at 8am on Saturday morning. It was gone.

Stolen from basement locker.

101 N upper wacker drive, (wacker and washington) man with a baseball cap walked to the building bike rack, pulled a battery powered angle grinder out of his bag, and sawed through a Kryptonite New York standard lock. Multiple witnesses- building security was alerted but the individual was riding away by the time they made it outside.

My ulock was cut and left on the cast iron fence in front of my apartment where the bike was stolen from.

Bike was left unlocked inside a garage. Garage door *may* have been left open - don't send a 12 yr. old take out the garbage - which gave the thief easy access to the bike and a quick way to scoot off. Obviously I should have locked the bike which wouldn't have stopped him from stealing it but at least he wouldn't have been able to ride away with it!

My bike was stored in a storage basement with several other bikes, it was locked to it's self with a Kryptonite U-lck through the front wheel and frame and a chain connected the the real wheel. I do not know specifically when it was stolen, because i have not been on it all winter. I discovered it missing yesterday.

Bike was stolen sometime between 5:30PM and 7:15PM. Video footage was taken of the incident but has not yet been reviewed by the detective.

Bike stolen from outside my work place during business hours.

My bike was locked up outside of the Chicago Board of Trade building on Financial Place just north of Van Buren. There are a lot of bike stands outside of the building and anywhere between 30-50 bikes parked in that area everyday. I locked my bike up with a Kryptonite Chain Lock that was secured around the rear wheel and frame to the bike stand. There were also a pair of bike cuffs that locked the front wheel to the frame. When I returned to where the bike was locked up, I found a piece of the mini u-lock that was used to secure the krytonite chain, so it seems that bolt cutters were likely used to defeat it.

Bike was stashed in front east lobby of Jewel Food Store at 4660 W. Irving Park Rd., while owner did 15-20 minutes of shopping, and its rear basked contained a bag full of groceries newly purchased from a different store, tied down with red, hooked, bungie cords. Owner had been doing this a couple of times a week for some seven years without incident, until today. The bike was gone when the owner finished shopping and entered the lobby. When I reported the theft to the store, the customer service representative called the police, handed me the telephone receiver, and I tele-filed a police report. I also spoke two assistant managers later today, but no one mentioned a word about the existence of video recordings, which surely exist. I just hope that they won't be erased.

Stolen from private storage room. Suspected bike thief in building.

Bike was in locked and dead-bolted back storage area. Neighbor has large rotating number of bikes and bike parts. Probably 20-30 different bikes in past few months.

The side door to my garage was pried open sometime between noon on 4/22/18 and 7:30am on 4/25/18. Bike was removed through the side door. Prior to the incident, the bike had only been taken in and out of the garage three times, and none of those times was there anyone else in the alley.
