Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The guy had rode off with the bike out off riis park. The guy was a brown black male with ear piecings and carried a black bookbag. Bystanders say he goes to Steinmetz and lives around there. *On August 6, 2016 the victim reported that he'd recovered his bike.*

My bike was stolen from my garage while I was at home with my family. The garage was unlocked since I had a contractor with his tools working on stuff for the house. The thief waited for the time when the contractor left the garage, walked up and took my bike. If this guy is not afraid just to walk up to some one's house daytime while everyone is home, I would be careful.

Bike was locked on back porch along alley. Was present when leaving for work at 7AM. Missing when I arrived at my apartment around 5:15PM. Thief likely assumed everyone was away at work. Girlfriend's car was not in our parking spot which assured them no one was home. There was a handyman/worker working on neighbors house next door that had parked in our spot most of the day, says he remembered seeing bike on our porch when he arrived in the morning. I approached him, asked if he had seen anyone suspicious walking around during the day. I even asked to look in the back of his truck as if he may have been the person with the tools to break my lock. It of course was not there although it's obviously possible he could have driven away during the day to stash it and come back.

Bike was locked to my partners bike at a bike park outside of the Francisco Brown Line station. My bike was secured with a cable thru both bikes. Partner's bike had a cable thru my bike and also a U lock. Although they cut the cable the U lock was not compromised and the bike was not stolen.It appeared that other bikes had been stolen too as the ground was littered with at least three other cables also a bike headlight. I had locked my bike at 2 PM and upon returning on the train at 10 PM bike was gone. Reported stolen bike to police, Address was 4744 N Manor

I'm not sure as to when it happened because it was stolen out of my storage room in my building at some point and I don't ride it or visit that room every day, so can't pinpoint when or at what time it happened. I BELIEVE it was locked to a bike rack with a U-Lock, but am not 100% positive that it was locked. I've attached a stock photo of the bike from the Trek website.

Bike was on a locked porch.

Parked in front Uncle's Dan at 4724 N Lincoln in Lincoln Square at about 10:45 a.m., I went across the street to The Chopping and to run a few errands. When I returned to retrieve my bike at 11:15, it was gone.

Bike was on a 2nd floor porch with a locked door, as well as a locked gate to the back yard.

The bike was stolen from my back porch on the 3rd floor of my apartment.

House lock was picked and broken into. Bike taken from locked, enclosed hall/porch (part of house). It happened sometime in the night between 10pm - 6AM while I was sleeping.

garage door was left open to one of units. thief came in and stole bike from neighboring garage unit. they also ran sacked my car.

Locked the bike up with a thick Kryptonite cable and heavy duty padlock. some time in the evening, between midnight and 11am, the bike was stolen. Don't know how or at exactly what hour.

I almost never leave my bike out overnight, but the Saturday night before I was moving out of my apartment I locked it to a metal fence in the alley adjacent to my building. When I left my apartment the next morning (Sunday about 8:00am) bike and lock were missing but fence to which it was locked appeared unharmed--assuming someone cut through my U-lock either very late at night or early in the morning. After talking to staff at my local bike shop, my guess is someone stole the bike to sell at a local flea market.

I parked my bike in my locked garage at 11 PM. I woke up at 5 am for work and went to my car and noticed my bike was missing, so it was stolen between 11PM and 5 AM. Nothing else was missing (I hope not) and no damage was done to my garage door/lock/vehicles.

Garage door was left open from 4:39 from 5:15 pm on August 1st, someone during that time (when people were home) took the bike

Our garage was left open overnight and our bikes were taken by be morning. This is right next to wicker park and off an alley that has a lot of traffic.

We have a finicky garage remote and our garage was left open. We usually always lock our bikes up in our garage but my husband had just brought them back from being at the beach late and didn't lock them. Of course that night our garage was left open.
