Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked my bike up on Randolph, just east of Beaudien, across the street from Jay Pritzker Pavilion. I went to Mariano's and then to a meeting. I walked past my bike at 6:35pm, so it had to have been between then and 7:55pm when I returned. I also had my helmet locked up with it.

Had biked locked inside of my hatchback. Large rock was used to break window and then removed bike from car through the window.

Bike was locked. The thief just got away with the front wheel.

It's quite possible that we left our big garage door open — the pedestrian door opens into our high-fenced yard. Unless someone scaled our fence. So we are partially to blame for leaving the door open, but it's still illegal to steal. I've had that bike since I was 16 and it has a lot of sentimental value. Our neighbor did see a "suspicious man" riding a bike in our alley when he took out the trash, but didn't have a description.

I walked outside to take the trash out. I then noticed that my bicycle was missing from the back porch.

I came home from the library late last night, and left my bike outside in front of my apartment intending to come right back out to run an errand. I got in and realized I didn't actually have to run out again, so went to bed, forgetting that my bike was left out. In the morning, it was nowhere to be found. I have searched all over campus for it, and no luck has been had. This bike means the world to me, and I have traveled the country with it. If anyone sees it, please please reach out to me. Bike was stolen off back porch quickly

We left at 7:20 to drop my daughter off at school at when we came back it was gone.

Locked to a tree along with other bikes.

Bike was stolen the night of Sept 14, morning of Sept 15. Street sign was uprooted, bike and lock were gone.

Bike was stored in the University CLub of Chicago's bike cage located in Millennium Park North Garage, 25 North Michigan Avenue, 60602,

I locked bike to one of many racks outside of the Board of Trade building at Financial & Van Buren, almost under L tracks but not quite, at about 8:25 am on Monday 9/14 and went into work across the street. When I came out at 5 pm, bike and lock were gone.

On roof rack of car. The bike was fixed to the roof rack in a condo complex driveway and was being checked on every 10 minutes, so it happened fast.

I don't normally park my bike on the street. As the school started last week, we are biking to school and back on nice days. Since our building bike storage is so hard to get in and out from, especially in the morning rush to school, to make it easier, I started parking our two bikes at the bike rack on the NW corner of Montrose. Since it's in a well lit, busy street, I was hoping our bikes would be safe. This morning at 8am, I walked across the street to get our bikes to take my kid to school and I noticed something was wrong. My 6ft combination lock (which I used to lock both bikes) was cut and left at the scene. My daughter's purple Schwinn pixie bike was still there. Next to it there was another bike, just like mine, same size and blue, a Schwinn Cruiser Supreme. At first I thought it was my bike. This was the weirdest thing. Someone stole my bike and replaced it with another. Never seen such a thing. I am posting pictures of that bike on Facebook in an attempt to find the owner. The only picture of my bike I have is from back on the first day of school. I had bought my bike on craigslist about 2 years ago for $50 and I loved it. At least they didn't take my daughter's bike, she would have been devastated.

It got cut using a power saw. The person who stole it took 25 minutes to scout the area before he actually cut it. It took 2 and half minutes to cut through and then he rode off with the bike lock. I saw the entire incident on camera and it happen between 1am and 1:30am.

Bike was there last time we had checked and when woke up in the morning the bike was not there.

2 bikes were taken - mine (pictured), and my roommate's, a black and red hybrid bicycle. Neither of us have our serial numbers - we are unable to file a police report. Apprehended thieves in the middle of theft, so not all bikes were stolen from apartment area. Chased, unable to catch an accomplice (a young African-American boy, ~12-14 years old, who was looking into the area, trying to open the door again, and who ran away upon catching my eye.) Most likely, theft happened as someone followed a neighbor into the apartment complex, pretending to live there, since our intercom is broken and there isn't a way to gain access otherwise.

Bike was stolen out of garage while I was out of town for the weekend. Our garage door also got tagged with the letters tckjg.
