Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Went to the zoo with my family, beautiful day, practice day for air show. All 4 of us rode our bikes. We locked them to bike racks 30 yards from main entry. My bike was locked through the frame and rear wheel to my daughters Trek bike. I made the mistake of looping cable through both bikes and rack, but not using my U lock to attach to frame. Cable was looped to bike rack. So thief only had to cut the cable and he got 2 brand new bikes. There were crowds of people and police everywhere.

The bike was in my garage. My neighbor was moving into the building and left the garage door open. I left at 6:45pm and the bike was present, at 11:30pm it was gone.

I locked my bike to the fence with a u-lock, being sure to get both the frame and my front wheel inside the lock. Not really sure how it happened, but when I went to grab my bike to leave today, the front wheel was still locked to the fence, but the frame was gone.

This bike along with 3 others was stolen off the Thule rack on the back of our car. It was locked and wedged on quite well so they spent considerable time getting them off. The other bikes are a red men's Giant road bike, a women's silver Giant road bike and a girls Specialized HotRock.

This bike was locked and wedged onto our hitch bike rack on the back of our van along with 3 other bikes. It must've taken the thief at least 40 minutes to get them off. They were stolen sometime between 1 and 7 am. This bike is the silver one in the picture. It was stolen along with the red Giant road bike and two kids bikes - a Specialized HotRock 20 in and a Torker Appaloosa 20 in.

This bike was locked and wedged onto our Thule rack on the back of our van. Both of the bikes in the picture were stolen. It likely took a solid 45 minutes to get these off the rack. We are traveling through Chicago. We can be reached by the phone number listed.

Bike was in a locked back walkway behind a condo building. Barbed wire, Razor wire and very pointing heavy iron rods are suppose to keep bad people out. Only residence of the building have access with a key. Building toward the north has a view of where bike was but no one from the street or driveway would be able to see that there was a bike in the area. The bike was there at 11:00 pm Thursday 8/16 when taking dog out for walk and was missing in morning at 7:00 am when taking dog for a walk again in the morning.

Headed over to FFC East Lakeview to get a quick workout in after coming from the bike shop. I locked my bike up outside the front entrance at FFC East Lakeview around 4:30pm on 8/16/2012. The lock cable went through both wheels, the bike rack and frame. Finished workout and came outside bike was no longer there. Lock was taken as well. Bike had a few scratches on the top of the aero bars, with another scratch (chipped paint) on the right side of the frame middle bar. The police have been notified. It was stolen from our garage as we unloaded the car.

Bike was chained to the hand-railing by the stairs on the east end of the Montrose Harbor beach house with dozens and dozens of other bikes. I was playing volleyball nearby. Was not out of my sight long. Saturday Aug 4 in the afternoon.

Was loading items into my van. Got distracted by a phone call and left the bike on the side of the road. Remembered and drove back. Bike was gone.

My bike was parked in a gated courtyard underneath my apartment. I believe someone either jumped the gate and walked out the front door with the bicycle or the front door was left unlocked by a neighbor and someone came in and took the bike. I know the theft had to have taken place between 8:30 pm August 15th and 8:00 am August 16th.

I came home from a bike ride to the lake and needed to use the bathroom. I left my bike in the side passageway between my neighbors house and my apartment. I went in, used the bathroom, then went straight outside to bring my bike inside and it was gone.

Locked bike in front of open business with heavy foot traffic at approximately 10 pm. Locked bike and husband's bike with one lock to the street sign. Went to go see a movie at AMC Theater. When we walked back to the bikes the lock was cut and left on the ground and my bike was missing (was locked on the outside). Husband's was left behind. We waited several minutes to see if someone was coming back for his bike too. Nobody suspicious really showed and workers at the Grand Lux that were parked right beside the bikes did not notice anything unusual.

I was at the Chicago History Museum at 8:00 PM until 9:45 PM, at which time I couldn't find my bike, but found my bike lock sitting where my bike was. Whoever stole it cut through the cable and walked away with the bike.

Somebody walked up, unscrewed the front wheel, cut the cable and took off with the bike.

The bike was stolen from our garage

Not sure what happened. I locked my bike up when it was raining. It rained for a few days so I kept being unable to go get it. I came back when the rain stopped and there was no trace that my bike had been where I locked it.

My bike was locked up overnight outside of my job. It was here when I left last night at 6:30pm and gone when I got back at 10:30 am this morning. The lock was cut clean thru and left on the ground. My bike is older, covered in electric tape and short.
