Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked bike outside REI on Halsted, in the store for about 45 mins, when I came out it was gone. Bike was locked to a bike rack, using a U-lock, so bit confused how they managed to get through it so quickly.

I had come with some friends to my apartment to grab a bike for one of my friends. We left the bike in the back of my apartment complex, of which there is only one way to get to. The bike was completely out of sight of anyone from the street (a good 150 feet from the front of the building). We were inside for 5 to 8 minutes max, the first few minutes of which my neighbor was on her patio. Whoever stole my bike left their black bike behind.

There were two locks on the bike: one combination, one u-lock. I believe both were cut through, perhaps the combination was deciphered though unlikely as I roll every number before leaving it everyday. It was locked INSIDE the Midway Orange Line Station so I assume this was someone who professionally steals and re-sells bikes for profit either online or via garage sales during the Summer.

Stolen from garage where it was hanging from rafters; nothing else is missing, including easy-to-carry tools, so I suspect the thief is a child. Will be on the lookout for the bike in River Park, which is across the street from our home.

Sometime around midnight someone stole the bike. The front and rear wheels were locked, along with the frame to a 15 ft high sign post. No evidence remains as to whether the lock was cut or picked. The criminals took the locks with them. Admin note-- upon request for clarification victim offered: "I usually use a U lock to lock the front wheel and frame to the pole that I am locking the bike to. I also string a flexible 4 foot metal cable through the rear wheel and thread the ends through the u lock to prevent my rear wheel from getting stolen. I started doing this after I had my rear wheel stolen a few years back when I lived in Wicker Park." Both the bike lock and cable were made by OnGuard.

This happened overnight. lock was cut and left behind. the bike was taken from in front of my apartment building.

The bike was stored with an additional bike in a residential garage. After leaving for the evening, the garage door mistakenly opened and after we left, the bike was stolen. There were several people in the alley who may have seen the door reopen. We think the two bikes were stolen at the same time before dark.

locked bike to rack at Metra commuter rail station at 6:30 am; gone when I returned at 5 pm. It was locked with heavy, chain Kryptonite lock which was also gone.

Bike was parked at approximately 12:20 PM at a "Pay to Park" new street sign that was securely attached to the ground. It was on the corner of Broadway and Oakdale Avenues, across from the Apple Bite. Base was secure and did not wobble. All of the nearby bike racks were full. Returning from errands at approximately 2:35 pm to find the bolts of the street sign on the ground around the sign's base. Bike frame was locked to the pole with a Kryptonite New York City lock.

I work in the building and came back at lunch to check on it and it was gone. this is the 1st time that I rode my bike to work and would really like it back.

Stolen outside of apartment

I got thrown off my bike and we got in a wrestle and he started going for his book back saying "imma kill you if you don't back off" and took off with my bike

Left bike overnight in front of Dutch bicycle shop, near the Damen blue line stop. When I returned in the morning, bike was gone.

Thief must have cut the lock in broad daylight, in front of a hundred people walking by on Michigan Ave...

I leaned my JAMIS Coda against the storefront window of the Subway sandwich shop on Southport and Waveland Ave. Had my eye on it the entire time except when I went to pay for the sandwich and it was gone. I ran out the door and it vanished.

Bike was secured to a wall mounted bike rack in a private parking space on the second level of a multi-user garage. No trace was left behind.

I was parked and locked at a bike rack with other bikes in front of City Hall around 3:30p. I was upstairs for about an hour when I came to find that my bike was missing. I immediately thought maybe I had parked it a block down, or on the other side, but after taking a lap across City Hall, and going down a block on each side, I had realized that a mistake was not made on my end, but rather the bike had just been stolen. Unfortunately, I did not take many pictures of the bike. So the only one I have uploaded is one of me and the bike, but please disregard the back behind the seat as I recently removed that. I hope this report helps me find my bike again.

Thieves entered my garage, took the bike, and exited through the regular lift door. The bike is registered with the Chicago Bike Registry and has been reported to CPD. Bike Odometer is around 450 miles.

bike was stolen from inside my apartment building. from the basement. the thieves broke in.

The bike was locked to a parking meter sign next to a Barnes and Noble, on a busy street in broad daylight with a newer U-Lock with a flat key. The base of the sign was unscrewed, the pole lifted, removed and then replaced after the bike was taken. The screw/bolt that was taken out to remove the pole was left at the scene.
