Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was unlocked in 4-car garage inside of a locked condo building. Unsure of how the thief got into the building.

According to the doorman at my office building, the thief seemed to be a Hispanic man about 5'5" wearing a red hoodie and a jacket. He walked up, pulled a buzzsaw of some kind out of his messenger bag. Cut the lock in a few second and pedaled away.

Saturday Feb 8th around 6pm I locked my bicycle in my apartment’s garage. In the morning, Feb 9th 11:00AM, I went down to ride it and found my U-Lock and steel chain lock cut through and my bike had been stolen

Locked my bike to the bike rack outside of the blue line train station in logan square Chicago 60647. Came to retrieve my bike this morning at about 8 am. and came to find that my lock was cut and left at the scene with no trace of my bike.

Bike was behind apartment building "locked" (no actual lock just a cable) to a chain link fence Boyfriend left at about 11ish to walk the dog and came back and the bike was gone

Bike was locked with U-lock around the front Frame and cable lock around wheels and frame. Frame and back wheel were stolen. Front wheel and locks were left behind and locked to the bike rack

I locked by bike before staying at my girlfriends, it was gone in the morning when I went to bike to work.

It was there last night at 8pm, but not when I left the house at 12pm today (2/3/2020).

Rear exit door of garage left slightly ajar. Thief entered through this door, removed bike from rack, opened the main garage door, left with bike.

Bike was stolen from bike rack right outside of the Chinatown red line stop.

Garage door was inadvertently left open and bicycle was taken sometime during the night.

Bike was stolen from inside our garage. RCN cable guy was installing internet service and garage door was left open between 1 and 2pm.

bike was locked with u-lock to bike rack, plus a separate cobra cable lock was used to lock wheels to bike rack. Looks like U-lock was cut with an angle grinder. Looks like cable was probably cut with bolt cutters.

Bike was stolen sometime between 12:45 PM and 6:45 PM. I used the Kryptonite New York Standard U-lock, locking the frame and front wheel to the wave-style rack along the Chicago River at 100 S. Wacker Drive. I double check the lock each time I lock up so it was definitely locked and secure. I did find a piece of rubber sleeve but it looks like the sleeve that goes around the lock holder on the frame and not from the lock itself. Other than that, there were no other pieces left.

Bike was locked inside house storage room. Someone pried the lock with a copper pipe. Attaempted to get away with 3 bikes but left 2 a block down the alley. Cannondale is still missing.

I keep my bike on the 2nd floor landing of the inside of my apartment building. It isn’t locked inside the building, because it’s inside, and the front door locks. It was there when I came down the front to let a friend up, but when i went down the next morning on monday the 20th it was gone. It was stolen sometime after 4pm on Sunday Jan 19th from the inside of the building. The front door needs to be pulled shut, and sometimes people forget to do it in the building, so i think the door must have been not fully closed and someone was just able to get in that way.

Bike stolen from bike room in apartment building. Cable cut and u-lock and bike missing.

My bike was in the locked front room of my apartment complex. It has been there since July 2019. Both my bike and my boyfriend's bike have been there for a long time, without a problem. Today, when my boyfriend left the house at 8AM the bikes were there. When I returned home from a workout class at 2PM, the bikes were gone. Our janitorial crew came in around 10:00AM and the bikes were already missing. Stolen alongside boyfriend's Giant Escape 2 Disc bike.
