Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked my bicycle on 1765 N Elston ( northbound side of the road) at 1:15pm. After the H/O block party the bike wasn't there.... Chained it to the metal rail which separates the sidewalk from the road (the sidewalk is 2.5 feet elevated wrt to the road at that point). Arbus Granit lock (with flat key, but still a relatively old model) locks wheel and frame. Kryptonite cable used to lock the front wheel. 2nd (thinner) kryptonite cable used to make 2nd loop through front wheel and frame (really the purpose of that was to lock the helmet). I looked for eventual pieces of the lock / chain(s), and couldn't find any. The photo below shows the bike as it was locked before being stolen.

We were at the Chipotle Cultivate festival in Lincoln Park and locked my bike and my gf's bike together to a fence beside some of the staff trailers at the event. There was some sort of protest going on near by. Some of the staff would later say they saw a bunch of kids milling around there. We locked up both bikes and when we returned my lock had been cut. They left my gf's much more valuable bike laying on the ground and took my cheaper one instead.

Locked outside of the Lincoln Park Zoo (south entrance near the Nature Boardwalk. Went into the zoo from 12 pm until 5 pm. Returned to see bike was missing.

It was locked outside of the Steppenwolf Theatre. On a bike rack in the theatre outdoor parking lock. Below street level in a fenced-in area. No sign of tampering with the bike rack. It was locked with a new lock - very secure.

I have video and pix - stolen 9/13/12 at 2:37 by 2 males in a white minivan missing its passenger side front hubcap. Please look for it at local flea markets!

I found it unusual that it was still bright outside, the church next door was let out, & no other bikes within a 20 foot radius were touched event though they were much nicer than my bike.

Left (Locked) in front of Equinox Fitness Club, 1750 N Clark St, chicago 60614. Left over night to fine bike gone.

When into the store, came out and my bike was gone. The valet guy across the street didn't see anything.

Bike was taken out from my open garage door.

Sometime during the night stolen off back deck. Access to deck was not possible without hopping a couple fences.

2 bikes stolen off porch, likely sometime during the night.

I locked up the bike at 6am on 9/13 in front of UNION STATION, When I returned in the evening at 730 it was raining so I took a cab home. When I walked back to UNION STATION this morning I noticed that my bike was no longer there and the newer u-lock with flat key remained on bike rack

Went into performance bike shop on halsted and diversey. I was just grabbing a new tube for another bike I walked right past the thief while inside (6'3" mid to late 30s, 190lbs, white shirt, black male, small tool belt) as soon as i was walking to the front of the store I realized I did not see my bike on the rack anymore. ran outside only to talk to a guy coming in who said he saw the thief take off on the bike and head south on halsted.

Just bought a brand new fixed gear bike(walmart - Thruster 700c fixie bike) and this was my first time riding my bike into work at the CBOE building on Van Buren and Lasalle. Parked the bike at 7am. Went back out at about 9:30am to check in on it and the bike was still there. At the end of the work day at 5pm the bike(and lock) was completely gone. Dozens of bikes are in this area...but they took mine. I think they were able to figure out the combination to the bike lock. Next time I'm getting U Lock with a flat key. And a huge guard dog.

Outside of 909 S. Wolcott Building of College of Medicine at UIC. My bike was amongst other bikes, and I was standing only approximately 30 feet away. I glanced over after about 30 minutes to notice my white seat missing, only to find my cut lock. A report was filed with UIC police. The bike is very special to me because it was put together by my brother and custom painted.

Was moving my friend over to her new apartment. I only had a a bit of time so I locked it out front moved her in and came back to find it gone. Someone came out of a different apt building and said they saw a young light skinned African American boy with braids and a black backpack cut the lock and ride way up bell towards Devon

Bike was locked at 12:00am to street sign outside my apartment. Saw it locked at 2:30am as I went to sleep. Awoke at 10:30 looked out and saw lock cut and in grass were my bike was locked. Lock was cut with a chisel tool of some kind.

Bike was locked to a tree along the sidewalk.
