Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was locked to stairwell in the back entrance of building. Security camera was able to spot the theft walk into building and stay for 35 minutes, leave and come back 20 minutes later to take a second bike in the building. The camera image was unable to pick up anything distinguishable about the theft. The back door has since been provided with a dead bolt lock.

Bike was hanging up in my garage. I came home one day and it was gone. Nothing else appeared to be stolen from the garage.

I'm an employee at Fleet Feet Chicago and I locked my bike in front of the store on the bike rack. It was there on a Saturday morning on Wells St. and when I went on a lunch break, I noticed it missing. Broad daylight, busy street and the bike had been locked with a Kryptonite combination cable lock through the frame and tire.

Locked bike in front of Fleet Feet Sports for a morning run (9am - Sunday). Returned 90 minutes later and bike, lock, helmet were gone. Used a 1/4 in cable lock as I wasn't bringing a bag and didn't want to carry the u-lock... blast. Bike was locked through both wheels, frame, and bike rack (staple-style). Street wasn't busy but was light and not at all deserted.

After the bike had been locked up for about two hours I checked to see if it was still there. When I returned it was gone, along with the lock. My friend's bike was attacehd to the same pole but was still there. It was stolen a little south of the bar The Owl and tehre were many people out front smoking and waiting to get in.

Bike was stolen by cutting the top of the U-lock and removing the frame, but not the lock.

There's a key to get the the stairwell of my apartment building, but one could conceivably climb over to a porch. The porch is about 8' above ground. Someone must have climbed over and cut the lock. They left the lock, so I know I didn't mistakenly leave it unlocked.

The bike in the photo is not mine, but a very close approximation. 26 x 1 wheels. Cable was cut, U-Lock may still be attached. Keep your eye out for it at swap meets

I locked my bike at 8AM. A person working in my building said she did not see a bike when she came in at approximately 3PM.

My bike was locked to another bike. The cable was cut, the U-lock was taken with the bike. The bike was located on the 3rd floor of a secured garage (in a condo building). The thief. broke in through the front security doors, walked through the hallway, to the parking garage, to the 3rd level, passing dozens of bikes. He then walked my bike down 3 flights of stairs, right out of the garage.

Bike was taken from our garage, along with a women's Cannondale hybrid and a Quat car rack for 2 bikes. Someone in the neighborhood said he saw a couple (man and woman) trying to sell the bikes for $20 -- they were probably taken for quick cash rather than for the value of the bikes.

The bike was locked right outside of DePaul University Student Center on the corner of Belden and Kenmore where I park it every day for work. I saw the bike at 3:30pm but when I was leaving work at 4:45pm for the day the bike was no longer there. The u-lock was a very heavy u-lock but there was no trace of it or the bike at the scene.

I believe my storage unit was broken into overnight and someone grabbed the bike.

Bike locked to a rack. I went into the store. When I came out the bike was gone. The lock was cut and left on the ground.

my garage side door was left open so they must have come in through my back gate, locked?, went into the open garage and that's that. Stupid on my part but some people just F'g suck.

Bike was stolen between 1pm and midnight on November 26th. U lock was attached through rear wheel and frame to a wooden fence post. The fence post was pried apart and bike and lock were taken. U lock was also attached through front wheel via cable.

The bike looks like the one in the picture, its not the exact one though. If you see anything near close to it, please help me get it back. I got to ride it 3 times.

Bike was being stored outside of rear apartment door on 3rd floor of my building, in a secure stairwell that leads to a back alley. No signs of forced entry into stairwell from outside. As the door was always locked and I was a third floor, I never locked bike, as there was no one to see bike from alley or know it was there. A neighbor keeps their bike- minus rear wheel, in the landing of stairwell, but that bike was untouched.

The bike was locked to a tree only a few feet away from my ground-floor apartment window where I was at the time it was stolen. I had taken my dog out to pee around 2 PM and the bike was there, went outside again around 9 PM and it was gone. A coworker remembers driving by around 6 PM and it was already gone; she noticed because the bike is distinctive and she assumed I was out grocery shopping. I was less than 20 feet away from the bike at the time of the theft and they didn't make enough noise to alert me, even though it's an unwieldy bike that makes a lot of sounds when it moves. (There is construction in the neighborhood, and I'm sure in retrospect some sounds that I thought were from the rehab next door was actually my bike being stolen.) Reported to police immediately. I have the original purchase receipt (gift giver gave it to me in case service needed, etc), am searching through old paperwork for bike ticket with serial number.

At 8:40 PM I arrived at a condo at 2126 N Lincoln Park West; I locked my bike with a U-Lock and cable to a street sign in front of the condo. When I left the condo at 11:40 my bike was gone. The U-Lock was cut and both it and the cable were left around the street sign my bike had been affixed to.
