Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The wooden fence that the bike was locked to appeared to be taken apart with a drill. They took the lock with the bike. I don't know the exact time of theft, but found it the night of October 30th after work. The fence is part of our back porch so the theif came up onto it to take it apart.

I locked up my bike to the pole. I went to the mall and after I leave the mall, I see my lock on the floor and my bike is gone. Picture is with the bike but I took out the brakes

Bike was in a locked basement storage room, but not locked to anything in the room.

I had left my bike unlocked in the back of my building. In retrospect I clearly shouldn't have, but the building wasn't visible at all from the street, was very quiet, and was also behind a locked fence (although it wasn't hard for someone to jump a much shorter fence to get to the bike, which is probably what happened.) Someone would have had to have already known that a bike was left there unlocked for them to get it. My theory is that a high schooler took the bike -- another bike, a much smaller Trek, was left behind, with the name Leo Higgins engraved onto it. Pretty crushed about losing this bike, I've had it for more than four years and have ridden it everywhere.

Bike was unlocked in garage off of residential alley, and garage was left open.

The bike was being stored in my building's semi-secure bike room. The bike room itself had no lock but you needed access to the building to get to the bike room. My roommate borrowed my bike and didn't lock it upon returning it because she doesn't lock up her bike. My bike and I suspect others from the bike room were stolen.

Was locked to a tree at my place of work, Floriole Bakery at 1220 W Webster Ave in Lincoln Park. I locked it up at 10:30 am. When I returned at 6 pm, it was gone along with the lock. The bike was under video surveillance and I will soon have video of the event.

Bike was locked in front of technology institute building at Northwestern University and was last seen at 10:30 am Oct 22.

The bike was stolen from inside the CVS on Monroe and Wabash. I went in to buy some almonds and kept a close eye on it the whole time I was in there, except when I was checking out (took about 30 seconds). The bike was gone when I finished checking out.

Bike has been locked in an exterior storage room and used regularly for the last several years. Last time the bike was confirmed to be there was September 17th and it was discovered missing on October 20th.

I arrived home and unlocked front gate, walked bike into enclosed front yard and leaned it against the wall. I stepped back up onto the sidewalk to pull some weeds for a minute. In the two minutes I was pulling weeds someone had entered in my back gate seen my bike, walked within 10 feet of me to steal it and walk back out the back gate. This same man (caught on our camera) is suspected in another burglary down the block.

Bike was locked on a communal bike rack inside of an enclosed parking garage adjacent to a high-rise apartment building. Bike was last parked 10-13-2018 and noticed stolen on 10-19-18. While the bike rack is hidden from view, the parking garage is unlocked and accessible to pedestrians.

I found my bike missing from my back porch storage area. This area is usually locked but neighbors have not been locking it. Helmet and lock thrown on the floor. Not sure how long it’s been gone, possibly a week or more
