Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike was taken from inside my garage which is behind my house. I walked out to go to work in the morning, found the garage door opened and my bike gone. The bike itself was not locked but it was inside of the locked garage. No idea how they were able to get in and take it.

Thief took bike, left front tire. U-Lock was around front tire and frame.

I rode my bike home at 4pm from work. I locked it outside of my apartment. I went outside at 9:30pm to move it inside for the night, and it was gone.

I had just returned from a late-night run to the convenience store. My hands were full and I set the bike against the wall to carry in some things first. There are two doors to get into my apartment building, one external, one in a courtyard. I don't remember clearly which door I set it next to, but when I came back for it, it was gone, lock and all. This is a very tall bike, it is unlikely most people could ride it away. It would have to be walked, or put in the back of a vehicle.

Someone broke into our garage and stole my bike :(

The bike was locked in my storage room, as it has been for the last year with multiple other bikes, all of which are unlocked and still there. I put it in there at 7pm on 8-5 and it was gone by 645am on 8-6.

Bike is always inside an enclosed garage (free standing) on a bike rack. When I took car out of garage for work at 5:30pm on Tuesday 8/5/14 the bike was still there. When I return home at 3am on Wednesday 8/6/14 the bike was gone. No other item missing from garage. Garage door was closed. However found that the door that exit to the yard was unlock. Gate to the yard has a lock but the fence is very low.

Went inside building at corner of Sheffield and North Avenue to use gym facilities, leaving it locked on corner 5 feet from lobby security staff. Returned to find bike and lock missing after 25 minutes. Security staff did not notice bike was stolen. Lots of pedestrians/shoppers on street. No one noticed/reported theft.

Bike was stored in a locked stairwell behind the locked entry gates to the building. Bike was left unlocked along with other tenants' bikes. Bike was stored at 6 PM on 8/5/14 and missing by 12:30 PM on 8/6/14. Helmet was left on floor next to missing bike. There were no signs of forced entry or damage to other tenants' bikes.

My bike was placed in a locked garage on Sunday evening of August 3. The last time it was seen was on 8:30pm on Monday, August 4. On Wednesday morning of August 6, it was found that the garage door had been unlocked with the bike gone. The bike had not been locked to anything in the garage; there was only a cable lock that was locked on the handlebar so this may eventually be cut off by the thief.

We have an enclosed porch area of our three flat building. Someone climbed up through a window, entering the porch area. My bike was stolen. When I returned home, the 2 windows were open, as well as the the door was left ajar. Because it was in an enclosed secure area, I did not have my bike locked.

Locked bike with cable and U-lock to a bike rack at Chicago and Wood. Only the frame was locked, but I have locking skewers on both wheels.

The bike was last seen on July 2, 2014. It was locked through the front wheel and the frame to the bike rack. It was left in the bike storage room for 4 weeks while on vacation and discovered missing on August 4, 2014. The bike was locked in the bike storage room of my apartment building. There were other bikes present when it was locked and upon finding it missing. I believe the bike lock/chain was cut and taken with the bike. The helmet was even taken along with the bike.

Bike was on my fenced-in back porch. I live on the third level. There is a six foot locked fence around the back stairs of my apartment. Landlord watched video and the guy on the video was a middled aged African American, he hoped the fence and stole mine and my neighbors bike.
