The only thing not over the top were the DT Swiss wheels I had on it that day. Taken from the Millenium Park bike station (which is generally very safe) by an African-American male, 5'10" - 6'0" in height, maybe 200 pounds, green winter coat and hat (caught on video surveillance tape).

Video surveillance shows the thief hanging out in the bike station atrium acting like he was working on a problem with his bike, he then exits off the camera shot and presumably cuts the lock on my bike and lifts it over the railing and out the door. He leaves his crappy messenger bike (which he might also have stolen) near the door. Image shown is not my bike, but a photo of a similar bike.

The garage was not broken into, so I assume that the door was left open, or someone has a universal remote for the door. The bike was up on hooks, with a u-bar lock and cable through the wheels and frame. A heavy chain was draped over it, but it was not secured to the ceiling like my wife's bike.

The bike was locked to a single loop bike rack in downtown. I went inside my gym, and when I came out, the cut cable was laying on the ground, and the bike was gone. There were security guards on duty at the gym and the Canadian consulate but, of course, no one saw anything. This was close to sunset, and in heavily trafficked area, and my bike was the only bike on that bike loop. It must have been an obvious crime, that I would expect someone to have seen... ??

Headset is blue (I believe Chris King). Drop bars with black and light blue tape; both front and rear brakes. White reflective tape on various parts of the frame, including the crankset, which is black. Rear wheel is flip/flop (single-speed/fixed). Yellow Crank Bros. pedals. Yellow water bottle holder. Chain is relatively new, with a snap-lock joiner.

Found the remains of the Kryptonite lock, which had been cut with what appeared to be bolt cutters. The lock was under the snow, which started sometime this morning, so I assume it was stolen sometime during the night.

By the time I went to go get it and bring it in the storage unit it was gone. It is brand new, just got all the bells and whistles and once over, he has ridden it twice and already gone. My bike is a women's hybrid(? - may be mountain). It is blue with silver cheverons, and has 21 gears. There was paint damage on head tube on both the left and right side. When I went for a ride, I put my lock on the handle bars, so it bashed into the post and chipped off the paint. Certain gears cause a light thumping noise. Aside from the fact that it badly needs a tune up, the bike is in great condition. No size, but the wheels are 26x1.95. I do not have any registration or other identifiers for my bike, unfortunately.

I locked up my bike when I went to class, through the front wheel and around the wheel posts. It was on DePaul University campus, outside of Seton Hall, at about 5:00pm. When I came back at 10:00pm, it was gone. The thief detached the front wheel and lifted the posts out of the u-lock. The front wheel remained locked to the rack. The theft has been reported with DePaul campus security.
