Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Locked my bike across the street from The Vic while at a concert. There was somebody ushering cars in to the parking structure across the street so I locked my bike to a sign post near her in hopes that she may be there most of the night and her presence would keep people from tampering with my bike (I forgot my Ulock key so could only use my combination cable lock). Two+hours later, left the show and bike was gone, cable lock on the ground.

It is pretty simple, someone wanted it and cut the lock...it is a really nice bike, I got numerous compliments on it!

I locked it up with 20 other bicycles on a large rack. It was near the back entrance of the Ogilvie Transportation Center (train station) on Washington street between Clinton and Canal. I saw one person around while locking it up, but he may have been waiting for a bus as there is a stop right there. Please contact me with any information.

Bike was chained and locked to bike rack in front of AMC River East on Illinois. I left the bike for about half an hour to eat at PJ Clarkes, when I returned the bike was missing. The lock was not in the area.

bike has a removable basket, it was stolen without the metal basket. been locking the bike on the fence just like everybody else. i went to the basement to pick up the laundry at 8:20am, and saw my bike is still locked in the fence. After 15minutes of organizing the finished laundry, i came out of the basement and saw my bike wasn't there anymore. I tried to calm myself and brought the laundry inside the apt and went down again hoping i was just wrong and my bike would still be there. But no my bike was indeed stolen, I saw the cable was left on the fence and was cut twice. Seems the thief(s) really know what they're doing. I know no one could get to side passageway without a key, the only thing I can think of is the thief cut the cables and lift the bike over the fence and run off.The other side of the fence is a parking lot where the gate was open. I know there's very slim chance of retrieving this bike, but whoever did this, please have a heart.

The bike was stolen from our garage less than 30 minutes after parking it. It is unclear how the thief entered the garage, but it seems that they entered from the alley.

Bike and cable gone

Cross-locked to a sign outside Crust on Division and Hoyne. Left it there overnight and returned the next day to find it gone. Management of the restaurant saw nothing.

I had locked the frame and rear wheel together with a u lock, then the frame and both wheels to a traffic signal pole with my cable. Broad daylight. Within the 90 minutes of my yoga class. My yoga studio is in the warehouse district at Webster and Elston, so no real businesses there. They only left the velcro strap which I had around the cable part of my lock. I know it's a long shot, but if you see it, let me know. Thank you.

Track Bike- locked with a U-lock per owner.

I am actually pretty surprised that it was stolen. It was well locked and in a heavily trafficked area but it was clear they cut the lock, although they took it with them- the kryptonite velcro strap on the lock was left lying on the ground. Bummer, I adored this bike.

I parked my bike in front of my building and locked it. I went to seven eleven around 930, it was still there. my brother woke me up telling me it was stolen. There was no sign of the lock or anything, Im not sure if it was picked or it was cut. Admin note: Bike spotted (serial number match) at Swap-O-Rama, 41st/Ashland, July 10 2010, by Chicago Stolen Bicycle Registry admin- fence/thief hid it before police could arrive.

I parked it under the bridge around 8:30am to catch the train. When I returned around 3pm the bike was gone.

I parked by bike in the laundry room in my building on Sunday, May 23rd(it's usually a place used to park bikes). On the evening of May 27th, when I went to go ride it, it was missing from the area, and the complex. This bike was unlocked, in the open area of the Laundry room, but really is in a secluded area of the apartment building, and I've parked my bike there before. It's a 1996 Trek Hyrbrid, and the specs of it can be found here - http://bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?ItemID=51766&Type=bike. It had a thicker, cruiser-type bike seat(believe the Brand was Bell), and was just tuned up, and has a Village Cycle Center sticker next to the water bottle holder. I believe that somebody close by in this area or a neighbor(who would have access to the laundry room) might've taken it, as I didn't ride the bike much and have had it for less than three weeks.

The strangest thing was that my boyfriend's bike was locked with my bike, and when we got off the train we found his bike only, and my bike and the bike lock were gone.

normally do not leave my bike out that long, but forgot i left it outside of my apartment. coming home from a friends and rounded the corner of division and leavitt and saw the man lifting my bike and putting in the back of his dark green american model full size truck with a large stainless steel toolbox in the back of the bed as well. i yelled something and started running to catch up with him. he got in and sped away. i could not get close enough to see the license plate. he headed east on division through damen. i lost him and lost my bike. the man was not too stocky and latino looking. black pants and white t-shirt.

Bike was locked to bike rack in front of Chicago History Museum and stolen in the middle of the day. Working on a serial number from the bike shop it was purchased at, but won't have it until tomorrow. Thanks for any help!

The thief was a white male, white hair, white shirt, blue jeans or blue colored pants, about 50-55 years old, 5'7" -5'9". This bike was locked to a tree directly in front of my hotel while I gathered my suit cases in my room on the 5th floor and the valet went to get my truck. Less than 15 minutes! When I returned, the lock was cut. My sons bike was left there untouched. Several witness NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT! They just let it happen.

I loked my bike by U metal lock on the frot of my house, checked from my window at 8 pm, he was here, didn't hear any sound, my windows were open, looked at 11.20 pm -and he was gone!!!
