Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Someone cut the cable lockand stole my bike, when it was locked to a bike rack on East Grand Avenue, at 1:00 PM. It was a bright sunny day on a busy street, and I only left it alone for 1 hour. It was a large adult men's road bicycle, and oddly, the theft stole my bike and replaced it with a small red women's bike. My bike was old and very used, a bit surprising. I left the girls bike at the scene.

The door of my building was propped open by another tenant and forgot to close it leaving my bike that was locked to itself to be just grabbed, lifted, and carried away at the time. Also the thief is a f*cking *sshole. They should had stolen a car from a yuppie.

My bike was stolen in the mid-afternoon from behind a 6ft locked fence. Bike was locked (frame only) with a newer u-lock with flat key.

Someone must have gained access to the locked basement somehow and took my bike. There were other bikes down there, yet mine is the only one missing.

The Bike was tied with chain and ulock for a couple of hours as I was in class. It was tied to a metal fence and chain was taken with them.

IM SO UPSETTT! Please help me find my baby!! And if you stole it no hard feelings just please let me have it back!! You broke my lock oh well ill just get a better one...since that one is easy access which i wouldnt think you would even try stealing it in the first place!! arg...life sometimes! I locked up my bike to go inside to get something to eat and change clothes. I made sure to remove the computer mounted to the bike and locked the bike up. When I came back out my bike was gone.

all i can gather is that someone cut my cable and took my bike. neither the bike nor the lock were at the scene.

I went to take a dance class and I thought I should take my bike into the building, but there were 3 other bikes locked up outside. I thought it was an open building right in front of the door and that I wouldn't be gone long. Two hours later my bike was gone. Nothing left to show for it.

Bike in secure back yard with locked side gate and high fences on both sides of yard which made entry difficult and bike not visible from front of house or side of house. Bike visible from one house where workers observed in back yard during the day. Bike missing by next morning.

Locked bike to rack outside Dominicks on Chicago Ave in the Ukranian Village and went inside to buy a few groceries. Left between 10 and 20 minutes later, and both the bicycle and lock were gone.

Bike was cable-locked into the bed of a pickup truck parked in a residential lot. Cable was cut.

Bike locked to lamp post outside of apartment building. Went missing overnight.

Garage door was triggered open, by accident or by burglar is unknown... Garage door was closed when girlfriend went to ride to work and found bikes gone.

Was parked in garage. Not sure if the garage door was accidentally triggered ? but all bikes were missing this morning and garage door was closed.

Bike was parked in area between Cosi restaurant and Freshi (200 W. Monroe) at 8AM. Bike and lock were gone by noon. This area is well viewed by the Freshi restaurant and Equinox health club. Additonally a lot of smokers hang out by the bike racks. Thief had some guts stealing mid day in front of on-lookers.

I didn't know there were workers on the building roof. Bike went missing between the time I returned from work and the time I went to leave for yoga practice.

My bike was locked with a U lock to the staircase of my house. I live in a coach house and the thief must have entered my gate to access the bike. A crowbar must have been used to remove 2 of the wooden posts on the stairs to detach the bike. 3 other bikes were also attached to the staircase but only mine was stolen. The lock was missing with the bike and should still be attached to the center of the bike. 3 apartment complexes face my building, but no one saw anything so it must have been late at night.

I locked my bike up at approx 6:50am yesterday 10/3/2011 I came out to check on the bike approximately10am. Bike was still there. I came out at the end of my shift at4pm. Approximately 4:10 is when I noticed the bike missing. I went to the front desk at 120 S Riverside to report the bike missing. I spoke with Regina Weaver with Security. She showed me differnt camera angles of various bike racks. I was told to tell her which camer angle was pointing at the bike rack. I identified one as it was a clear view of the bike rack in which my bike was stolen. She proceeded to file a report and when I asked her if I should file a police report, she said there's no need because a police report will be filed today when security reviews the camera tape. She said to call the Assistant Director of Security, Sharnell Hawkins tomorrow morning (10/4/2011) around 10am. Today 10/4/2011, I received a call from Manny Fuentes, asking me where the bike was located. When I offered to come down to show exactly which bike rack and where it was located, he declined and said a description was enough. He assured me that he would contact me after reviewing the tape. I was confidant he would see the theif because I was told that the camera is on the spot running 24/7. Towards the end of my shift, at 3:45pm, I found it odd that Manny had not called me yet with a status update of his findings. SO I called him and was surprised when he said the tape did not find anything. And when I asked for a copy of the police report, he said I have to do that. Which was conflicting with what Regina told me. So at 6pm today,when I got home, I spoke with Officer Eric Medley and filed a police report. That police report # is HT527472. I also registered the bike at CAPS Clear Path Bike Registration, Stolen Bike Registry, and GT bikes. Regina told me that there were 3 other bikes stolen off the property within the past summer. I would appreciate a call back to discuss how I can help with the investigation as I am shocked that my bike was stolen. I even registered last week to get freight access so I can store my bike indoors, however, was told that there was not a bike room.
