Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

this is the second time my bicycle has gotten stolen. it was returned the first time, which was a blessing but i doubt that i will get it returned this time. i take the train every tuesday afternoon to go to my class in the burbs and come back for it on wednesday mornings. i lock it where all the other bikes are locked on armitage by the train station, i bought one of those smell u-locks that fit in my back pocket, and i check and double check every time i lock it. this bike is very dear to me, please please if you see it call me/email me. i just want it back, If found, no questions will be asked, so please, please, dig deep inside and use whatever inkling of altruism you have to return it, please give me my baby back :(

We have a storage room in the basement and rear of the 3 flat that I live in. The door was kicked in and the bike was really the only thing that wasn't behind another locked door.

My bike was locked to the bike frame on the south side of the train tracks along Crescent Avenue in Wheaton, IL. This particular bike rack is concealed between the train tracks (hill) and the cars that are parked in the parking lot adjacent to the tracks. Therefore, I believe that someone was able to walk up to the bike unnoticed and either cut the cable or pick the lock and then simply walk away with the bike like it was theirs. There are some businesses and residential homes in the area, but since the rack is concealed between the tracks and the parked cars, it made it easy for someone to take their time to remove the lock without being noticed. This bike rack should be removed from this concealed area and I definitely will never lock up a bike on this rack ever again. Also, when I returned at the end of the work day (5:30pm), there was another bike locked up in its place, which tells me that the thief must have stolen my bike in the morning hours in order for the other person to be able to lock their bike in the same location where my bike was locked.

Locked up at the Metra Station (Lake Cook Rd stop on the MDN Milwaukee District North line) Friday at 5:20pm - gone on Monday morning...

left it at the Metra bike rack - 7:30 am gone at 6:30pm

i locked my bike up to go to work for a few hours and when i got back down it was gone. i was using a cable lock because i couldn't afford a u-lock. now i'm paying for it.

My bike was locked w/a Bulldog OnGuard U-lock to a black railing separating lawn from sidewalk on side of apartment building on residential street. Car-type key opens lock, so I believe entire lock was cut through. Bike also had Kryptonite self-locking wheels and seat. It rained that afternoon and I left outside overnight unfortunately. In the morning when I went to ride my baby to work, it was gone.

My bike was locked on a rack along with a number of other bikes at the Ravenswood train station. I left it in the morning and when I came back about 5:15 pm, it had disappeared along with the lock. Many other bikes were still locked there, but there was no trace of mine. I can only guess as to how the thief or thieves was able to defeat the 2008 Kryptonite u lock I was using

My bike was left—locked to one of the bike racks on Ashland, under the highway—outside the Metra Clybourn station between 4:10pm and 9:30pm on Monday, September 21st. There was no evidence, from what I could tell, that the bike had ever been there when I returned for it. My friend's bike had also been stolen in this manner recently.

Someone broke into the condo's garage and stole my bike, but left my husband's bike. Both bikes hung from the same rack that is mounted to the garage wall where each bike had Kryptonite U-Lock through the front wheel and frame then locked to the rack with a chain lock. The chain lock had been cut, but left hanging there. My husband's bike seems to be untouched. Generally, the car prevents someone from getting to the bikes, but since the car wasn't there all weekend, they were accessible. My bike was taken at some point between Sept 16th 8:30pm and Sept 20th 6:30pm. Please help.

Bike was locked to a rack next to a University of Chicago building, recently installed and well-lit. Left bike there (outside of a friend's place) due to unusual circumstances, and did not need to use until Monday morning (9/21), when it was discovered to be missing at about 9:00 AM. The rack had not been broken, and the U-lock and bike are both gone.

I saw the guy getting away with my bike and chased after him. I chased him north on Fairbanks Ct. but he got away. He was a black guy wearing a black backpack and a silver helmet.

Someone broke into my garage and stole my bike and my husband's bike. It was during the day and a neighbor saw it and reported it. They were in a van with license plates registered to someone in Elmwood Park. The police have done nothing else except take our report.

We locked our bikes and were at the beach 50 feet away, when we went back to head to the pavilion the one bike was gone.

Left bike locked in bike rack on edge of Millenium Park across from Art Institute. Went into museum and when I came out a couple of hours later bike and lock were gone. They left my red bike helmet on the sidewalk. I assume someone cut through the cable lock.

I had the bike locked to a sign in the parking area of my building. I had not attended to it in 24 hours and now it is gone. I suspect the lock was cut and the bike taken.
