My bike was stolen from outside my apt

My cable lock is missing too, but I'm assuming it was cut and then stolen along with my bike. I guess it doesn't matter how busy the sidewalk is or how nice the neighborhood.

Bike was locked with a heavy duty chain and lock to a light pole. someone cut a link of the chain, left it at the scene.

The lock was either cut or the whole bike and lock were lifted above the sign.

We had 2 bike stolen from our storage unit in a 3 week period before 29 April 2009. The losers cut BOTH of our locks away from our unit and took the bikes along with some other items with out leaving a trace. The other bike is a Schwinn men's mountain bike my girlfriend was using, black, gray and silver.

I think somebody must have cut my lock or unscrewed a wooden support post and slid it off. The post wasn't unscrewed when I found the bike missing so if that was the case they screwed it back together.

Don't know much about it, just noticed that it was missing today... Any help is appreciated!

Rode bike to work and locked it up right in front of Lakeshore Athletic Club near the AON building. I actually came back down and hour later to retrieve sunglasses that I forgot on the seat, bike was fine. I left work around 6pm to find my bike gone along with the cable lock. I spoke to the valet and asked if bikes were stolen from there often and he said usually one or two a day in the summer months. Sad considering its a busy area and the bike racks are right in from of the b-ball courts.

Bike was in storage room below apartment. There one day, gone the next. Not locked.

Stolen at the gates of lincoln park zoo. I was only gone for less than 45 minutes

I was on my way home from the bike shop. This bike was a replacement for the one that was stolen THE DAY BEFORE!!! Husband and I knew we needed u-locks and decided to order them from Amazon at home to save a few bucks. We stopped at Best Buy to run in quickly and look at something. Entertained the thought of taking our bikes in, decided that probably would be frowned upon, so we locked our bikes up together with the thick cable he's been using for the past 9 months on a sign that was clearly visible, just 10 feet outside of the front doors. I stayed within sight of the doors and looked out every 30 seconds. During one of those 30-second intervals, it disappeared. My bike was leaning against his and they were both locked through the frames and front wheels to the pole. Since mine was on the outside, it was taken. Cable was cut. A witness at the scene described the thief as a white male, early 30's, husky and bald. Police canvassed the area and put out a BOLO to CTA.

My bike was left on the main strip walkway leading into Navy Pier along many other bikes on a bike rack. I locked it up and went to use the bathroom inside. I wasn't gone for more than 10 minutes when I discovered my bike was gone.

My bike was locked to one of the bike racks on the lower parking level at the South Loop Whole Foods. I was in Starbucks and Whole Foods for a combined maximum of 30 minutes. When I went back for my bike, it was gone, along with the lock. I immediately spoke to customer service at Whole Foods, who called the security people. Nobody saw anything. I filed a police report. I imagine the lock was cut and taken along with my bike... not sure why the lock was taken, except maybe to eliminate fingerprints.

Bike was not locked to anything but was behind a locked door on the second story balcony. I suspect that someone with roof access from one of the adjoining buildings has taken it. The only other way someone could have stolen it was by shimmying across the balcony and throwing the bike down to the ground.

Used a cable lock instead of a u-lock for one day as I had lent out my u-lock. My guess is someone walked up and snipped it.

Bike was locked to a bike rack and another bike. Lock was cut through and left along with other attached bike.

This bike was stolen from a Chicago bike rack. They must have broken the U-Lock.

Bike was parked and locked in the CNA bike parking area at 7:30am and one my wya to lunch at 11:45 i noticed it wasn't there. I reported it to building security who was able to use cameras to see an individual ride in on a bike (wore a neon yellow vest, red/orange shirt, white baseball cap). This person was followed by someone on foot. The two looked around and began to work on the lock. The time was 11:01am. Once the bike lock was removed, the person on foot (white tee shirt and light brown pants) jumped on the bike and the two rode off.

I have had my bike locked up outside my apartment, on the railing that blocks off our garden from the sidewalk for about a week, and I have been using it on and off for that week. I had a kryptonite U lock that was attached to the frame and the front wheel. Whoever stole the bike tore up the whole metal railing to slide my bike off with the lock still intact. Other bikes may have been locked to it as well.
