Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

My bike was parked in my backyard in a residential location. I left it at 10 am, and when I went out to return to it at 11:30 am, it was no longer there. It could have only been taken by someone walking through the alley and peering into yards (it was not visible from our back gate).

The bike racks were full, so i locked my bike to the sign indicating the handicapped entrance on the south side of the train station. When i talked to the man inside, he said there was a chance that either the CTA, CTA Police or the city removed it as it could have been "blocking the door," which is also used for shipments. This is possible, as the U-Lock is new, was tightly secured to the bike through the frame, rear wheel and removed front wheel and the sign is not removable. Upon contacting multiple CTA offices, no one has it or could not help me (as of 3 pm, May 1). Any information regarding CTA/city policy for bike removal or on the whereabouts of removed bikes, or information regarding possible theft, would be greatly appreciated. I was downstairs studying for first semesters finals when I went out for a cigarette and my bike was gone with the lock cut lying on the ground. i filed a police reprt and im look to find the report number.

I locked the bike up to a rack in front of the bulding at about 4:30PM. I came back out at 5:30 and it was gone.

The Whole Foods on N.Halsted is attached to a community center that provides services to all populations of peoples. When I arrived at whole foods, there was a group of younger men hanging around the entrance to the community center on the corner of Waveland and Halsted.

Brand new -- very cute apple green cruiser. The bike was delivered by Fed Ex on 4/28 around 10 a.m. Put together at 7 p.m. In the garage at 10 p.m. Stolen from the garage sometime between 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Discovered missing at 7:40 a.m.

I had just brought my bike home after riding in the suburbs. I locked it up next to my car, underground, on the wall rack. The lock was through the front tire and frame. I came down this morning (4/28/09) around 10:30am and noticed it was gone. I just bought this bicycle, less than a month ago. It's a red and white Trek 3700 w/ front and rear plastic (detachable) mud/splash guards. It has a quick release seat and tires, Shimano shifters, and front shocks

I came outside to find the bike gone with the lock remaining on the ground locked around the rack that the bike was locked to. The lock was unharmed, my guess is it was picked. The street was very crowded on 4/24 at the time that the bike was stolen, so it must have been done quickly and professionally.

The bike lock was cut and left at the scene. There was another bike locked to the pole, but it was not stolen.

Rode the bike to robin richman for work at 11am, but saw it still locked at 6:30pm when a friend arrived to lock their bike. Went out again at 7:45 and it was gone.

Two bikes with u-locks attached to wooden stairway beam (next to laundry room)in inside courtyard of apartment complex (locked only to residents)on Sunday, April 19th. Friday, April 24th, bike owners went to retrieve bikes and beam was broken. Bikes and locks were no where to be found.

Saw the bike last on Sunday April 19th early evening, discovered it was stolen Tuesday April 21 early afternoon. Lock was cut with just a small piece of it left behind.

Pulled out of my garage about 1pm Sun 4/19 when I returned at 6pm the overhead door was opened and the bike gone.

I was on the front porch of the home for about 1 hour. When I was ready to leave I walked around back and my bike was missing..

Someone broke into my girlfriend's apartment last night on N. Kedzie and stole her bike. They broke the front door, went in through another door, and took her bike from the hallway where she was letting it dry. She does not make very much money and is completely heartbroken. If anyone sees it, please let us know. She is offering a cash reward, no questions asked.

The bike was inside in a locked building in the storage locker. Additionally, the storage locker was locked and closed. Similar incidents have been occurring in the area in the past.

Video surveillance shows the thief hanging out in the bike station atrium acting like he was working on a problem with his bike, he then exits off the camera shot and presumably cuts the lock on my bike and lifts it over the railing and out the door. He leaves his crappy messenger bike (which he might also have stolen) near the door. Image shown is not my bike, but a photo of a similar bike.

The garage was not broken into, so I assume that the door was left open, or someone has a universal remote for the door. The bike was up on hooks, with a u-bar lock and cable through the wheels and frame. A heavy chain was draped over it, but it was not secured to the ceiling like my wife's bike.

Locked up outside Stanley's Tavern while I was inside eating. Lock was a cable lock with combo. Lock was probably cut and bike taken. Nothing was left behind.
