Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike stolen from garage. No forced entry but garage door was open. I think it was stolen shortly before I discovered it missing, at 6:00pm.

The bike was usually locked with a combination cable lock (black) to a railing at the rear of the residence. I do not know if the bike was locked on the night of theft, as I had come home with groceries the evening before and may have forgotten to lock it after bringing groceries inside. At midnight of the night in question I noticed a car parked on the side of our house (it is a corner lot, so the patio is visible from the street. The car was a newer white station wagon-style car with darkly tinted windows. I had never seen this car before and haven't seen it since. I don't know for sure that the thieves were in this car. Note: the picture shows the bike before I installed the seat, bell, and right pedal.

Bike was locked to a bike lock in front of California Blue Line Station from approximately 7pm to 9pm. Thief seemed to be interested in anything that was valuable and highly portable, thus only the seat, seat post, seat collar, and pedals were taken. Replacement price of parts is approximately $200. Additionally bike was unridable adding insult to injury. Thankfully the most of the bike lives on to tell this story.

Only bike stolen from locked basement

the bike was locked to the rack right in front of the AMC river east 21 on East Illinois street. I went to AMC for a movie and the bike was gone after i came out. nothing left. I had a U lock locking the rear wheel and a code cable lock locking the front wheel to the rack. the bike has a very big black arm rest sticking out on the front.

My bike was taken from my garage. The next day, my grandma told me she went out to get the car that evening, and the garage door was open. The bike was gone. I don't think it was locked to anything, but I don't know, because I hadn't looked at it since I was hit by two cars two and half months ago. I've been in the hospital or immobile nearly all of that time, but everyone said the somehow the bike looked fine. It cost more than $1,400 dollars. I didn't have a picture of it, the one listed is from the website.

Again, it's only my rear wheel that was stolen. The rest of the bike and the lock are still there. I left work at Howard Brown Health Center around 8:00pm and was picked up in a car, and at that point the whole bike was still locked up to the rack out front. I returned to work this morning and the rear wheel had been stolen sometime between 8:00pm on 10/30/13 and 9:00am on 10/31/13. Not the biggest loss, but the tire is unique enough that it could be identified, as it is purple. It's a Magna fixie bike from Target, and the wheel can be switched around to free-wheel from fixed.

Most likely happened after midnight. Thieves used an old suitcase they took from the alley to get over our fence (6 ft wooden fence). Unlocked the gate from the inside to get the bike out of the yard. This is not a common bike!! I have only seen a few other Big Dummies in Chicago in the past few years. The bike frame has the older "swoop" top tube.

Bike was locked to the rack at the north end of the Rock Island Metra platform at 95th/Beverly/Longwood (Beverly Subdistrict line). I locked the bike up at 6:15am and it was gone when I returned at 4:15. The rack is at the far end of the platform away from the ticket agent/building (which doesn't have a view of the rack, and they leave mid-day anyway). 2 other bikes were locked to the rack when I returned, but not mine. A report was filed with Metra. Chicago police have not called back yet.

Bike was left unlocked outside of friends apartment on 2nd floor of locked building near 19th and Blue Island. Door could have been left open at some point. there was another unlocked bike next to it that was not touched. Could possibly have been someone in the building?

Locked bike to street sign and went into a fitness class at Pure Wellness on Halsted and came out and bike was gone.

The bike was locked in the parking garage at 343 W Old Town Court. The bike was locked by chain to the bike rack in a designated bike section in the parking garage. There is no evidence of cut chain, the bike along with the chain is missing.

I locked the bike in front of Stanley's bar on the corner of Armitage and Sedgwick at approximately 9:00 p.m. I locked my bike on a parking sign, next to another bike that was locked on the same pole. I did not lock my bike to the other bike. I do not remember what the other bike looked like.

Bike frame and front tire were u-locked to the bike rack. Rear tire was cabled to frame. Lock cut and missing along with rear tire. All other parts were left. Bike was locked to bike rack in front of Truman College on Wilson. Apparently the bike rack I was on isn't caught by their two security cameras and there has been a rash of bike parts stolen. Report was filed with the school and the police and there is an active detective on the case tying it to the other bike thefts.
