Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Found garage door open at 5pm on Thursday Aug 8. Bike was not secured to anything in garage because the garage is usually closed and locked. Bike could have been stolen at any time overnight from 8pm Aug 7 to 5pm Aug 8.

This is the best bike I've ever had. I loved it, and I was a fool to leave it on the corner! But I've learned from my mistake. My bike was locked to a street sign, with my heavy duty chain and padlock. The chain was cut- I have the broken link here on the table, and now my bike is gone. She is all blue, and is in pretty great condition though I think that she's on the vintage side. I'd kept my bike in our basement for the past year at least, but this week I decided it would be alright to leave it locked on the well-lit, open corner near the church, across the street from my building. I thought I'd use it again soon, but the weather this week ended up being rainy and unpredictable... There will never be another like her! I'll go back to using a u-lock, as fun and convenient as the chain was. I liked also that I could lock my back wheel with the chain, but clearly that doesn't cut it. No pun intended.

Suspect pried/broke the bricks which the pole was sunk into. After they were able to pry the bricks off of the ground, they then removed the pole from the ground/concrete, took the bike (which was locked on using a U Lock/Cord), off the pole and then threw the pole to the side. The left all the bricks (8 or so) removed from the ground and the sign was on the sidewalk.

Bike was locked up with a newer U-lock w/flat key with orange handle to a street sign in a Lincoln Park neighborhood overnight. In the morning, the bike was missing and the street sign was dug up and removed so that the thief could slip bike off the pole and take it.

Locked at 805 W. North Avenue just east of Clybourn. Between the L stop & the Apple Store-under a security camera! Not sure what time -between 7:30am-5:30pm

The bike was on my first-floor back deck overnight, which is completely hidden from the street or alley. Bike was last seen about 10PM, 8/7. The helmet was on the handlebars (black Giro Saros), as well as an old, clear 20 oz. water bottle from Mountain Road Cycles bike shop. There is also a white sticker on the bottle. Bike was not locked. My neighbor's bike was also stolen. Someone must have jumped the fence/gate into our backyard, walked up on the deck and simply lifted them.

Bike was properly locked with both U-lock and cable to metal banister of the stairway leading to apartment. U-lock was sawed through in 2 places and left at the scene.

Bike was inside locked vestibule attached to the building. Possible inside job but no one knows anything.

Bike was locked to bike rack directly in front of the Chicago theatre on State and Lake. Went into building for 5 minutes and was gone when I returned.

I left my bike locked at the Ravenswood Metra station in the morning at 8:30am. Discovered it missing, along with lock, at 7:15pm.

A bike was stolen from the same rack a month ago. We believe it is the same person, though we are reviewing surveillance tomorrow to confirm.

After finishing a week of work, came home sunday and put bike in back yard of new apartment. Only have keys to front of apartment so far. Back yard is fenced in, with a not locked side swing door. After coming into the house, had a beer and laid down. Fell asleep for a nap on the couch, when I woke up and went to get my bike, it was gone.

The bike was left on the 1st floor raised porch of an apartment building for maybe 1/2 hour. The porch is small, and raised off the ground about 10 feet. It's not hard to climb the wall, but it's not easy either. We were home. When we went out on the porch to retrieve the bicycle, it was gone.

I went out at 11:30 pm to retrieve my bike and noticed that it was not there. There were three other bikes still chained to the rack.

The bike was stolen off of my front porch at some point between 12:00 pm and 5:20 pm. The bike is brand new and means the world to me. It has bmx style handlebars and deep V gold rims. It is all white and says Critical on the side.

Bike was hanging in locked bike storage room at 5541 S Everett Drive in Hyde Park. Bike had a wheel that was too large for the fork and could not be moved, so the bike was unrideable. Unfortunately it was not locked to anything. Apartment says they will be able to provide video footage soon.

Bike was stolen from my locked garage. A car outside was broken into to access the garage door opener inside. The Mongoose bike had a Burley dual trailer attached. A blue Trek mountain bike was also stolen.

We had workers in our backyard, and the garage was open. Someone stole the bike from our garage where it was stored.
