Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Only front tire can be locked to the bike rack... and the lock was only around one spoke, assuming that the spoke was cut. lock remained in tact.

Bike was on deck of apartment, it happened in a private residence in Andersonville/Edgewater

Bike was stolen between 9am and 5pm outside of Blackies Bar on Canal and Monroe, across from my office at 525 W Monroe. It was stolen in broad day light right outside of an office, in a row with 8 other bikes right next to a bus stop. Someone cut the lock and took it.

The bike was stored in a locked garage. It seems like someone walked out of the the garage with the bike as it was locked to itself with a U-lock.

Entire bike frame was removed and left only rear tire.

It appears they just opened the U-lock. I'm not sure how, but I'm always very careful to lock my bike to my frame, and they still just opened it up. (Ed note-- this was a newer U-lock, not the old round key style.)

Railing was cut to get at the bike. Bike was stolen after midnight and before 6AM

Bikes were chained up together and to a lamp post. Someone cut 2 locks off and took both bikes.

They broke into the back yard and broke off a wooden pole to free the Ulock from the fence. They then cut the steel cable from around the front tires/frame and deck support beam.

Arrived to retrieve the bike, U-lock was drilled through, but still locked on bike. Went to retrieve tools to recover the bike myself, but it was gone when I returned.

The rear wheel was taken off of the bike with a wrench or tool. The rest of the bike was left U-locked to the bike rack

I left my bike at Ogilvie Transit station locked up in the underpass on Randolph for the weekend, and when I got there this morning it was gone. No lock was left

Bike was locked between residential buildings behind gate with a combination cable lock. Someone came into the fenced area and cut the lock. Lock was left at the scene.

My girlfriend and I decided to take a bike ride as we usually do to dinner in bucktown at the Red Door @ 2118 N. Damen. Mine a chrome bianchi pista hers a white with distinct neon green tires. locked together on the side of the restaurant to a parking sign. Started raining halfway thru dinner so we decided to cab it back home and grab the bikes the next day. Low and behold they were gone.

Someone broke or cut my metal fence and lifted bike over it to the street. Took bike with lock still on wheel and frame.

BIke was kept in a locked, wooden (permanent) storage shed on our property. Bike itself was not locked to anything inside the storage shed. Discovered that the bike was missing around 8:30am on the morning of July 27. We believe that someone entered our gated yard (6 ft fence), gained entry into the shed and then left through the gate into the alley behind our house with the bikes. We found the damaged u-lock from the bike further down in the alley.

locked bike to city stand around 11pm after work. Checked outside around 2am and noticed stand was empty. Walked outside to make sure I was not insane and found the cut lock on the ground with my ride long gone.
