Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Biked locked at overnight to street sign that was solidly placed in ground (not bolted). In the morning, the bike and lock were both gone. Stolen between 2:00am and 8:00am. Will update with police report later.

Locked my bike to the rack outside of Boston Blackie's around 9am. It was still there around lunch time, but was gone when I left around 5:30 with no trace of the bike or U-lock.

My bike was locked to itself in the entryway to my apartment. Getting into the building requires either a key or getting someone to buzz you in. I don't know how the thief could have taken off the lock to ride it.

Stolen from the Trader Joe's/Four Points Sheraton parking garage at Rush and Ontario. Stolen between 5:45am and 11:00am.

'Customer' took bike out for test ride and never returned with the bike.

Our garage either didn't shut or was broken into while we were out. Only my bike and my husband's bike were taken. Usually very very careful about keeping the garage closed as we do not live in the best area. Learned a valuable lesson about locking up bikes even when they're stored in your home.

I locked my bike Saturday night (10/6), at around 11:30pm, to a fence by the front door of my apartment building. I left my apartment on Monday morning (10/8), at around 9:15am, to find my bike missing. The lock was cut and left behind on the ground.

Locked gate on backyard was spread apart, unlocked garage door was opened and two bikes were stolen.

Bike was stolen from back porch of apartment. It was set there temporarily while moving.

THE BIKE WAS STOLEN FROM A PUBLIC STORAGE FACILITY. THE LOCK WAS PICKED, THE BIKE WAS STOLEN AND THE LOCK WAS REPLACED ON THE UNIT.

The bike was locked inside a storage unit at Public Storage at 1129 N Wells, Chicago 60610. The lock on the unit was picked. Public Storage told me on October 7th, 2012 (the day of the report) that they arrested someone last week for picking locks and stealing property.

I had not ridden my bike in a week because I hurt my ankle. I left my bike on my third floor back porch unlocked. I do not use the back porch often, so I do not know exactly when it was taken. The only way to get into the back yard, except for the other residents of the three flat apartment, and up the three flights of stairs is through a gate in front of the house.

The things that were stolen have specific features. Stock rims, so Alex G2000. The stickers were removed from the rim. Pieces of black reflective tape on the rim, with Maxxis re-fuse tires (can't remember the size). Flip-flop hub. The fork was stolen, and has a couple of pieces of vertical reflective tape on it that are almost invisible without close inspection. Both the fork and wheel are in average condition.

I locked my bike up at the Clybourn Metra in the morning. Came back after work and my U-lock had been cut straight through with a tool.

There is a bicycle storage room inside the building, accessible through the garage. Sometimes the back door is open, so thief must have walked in that way. The bike was locked to the bike rack with a heavy-duty cable lock, and the thief actually removed one of the links on the bike rack to take the bike. So I'm certain they didn't defeat the lock, but rather destroyed a portion of the rack.

Noticed my bike wasn't on the rack. Fund just the cut lock on the ground. My bike is a lady's GIANT brand. Blue and white. NEW! Has a spedomoeter and bottle holder.

While we were at work, someone broke into our house and stole the bike along with a couple of other items.

This bike was U-locked to itself in the lobby area of hi-fi fitness center on Chicago and Orleans.
