Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

The bike has been stolen from the back porch, along with another one, a beige Kona Muni-Mula, so there must have been two thieves... Strangely there is no damage to the door or windows. If you see it for sale, please contact me asap.

I came back from a ride around 10pm last night (July 9th) and locked my bike to a metal fence in front of my building at 659 W. Randolph. When I went out the next evening around 6pm to go on a ride it was gone. My roommate said he saw the bike at 6:30am when he left for work. It must have been stolen between 6:30am-6pm on July 10, 2012. I appreciate any help that you guys may be able to provide.

My bike was stolen right in front of the CTA Southport brown line station. There are cameras everywhere, and the scene of the crime is directly in line with the cameras, but CTA won't allow me to view the cameras. Thanks Chicago. Bike stolen from in front of Alta K, as no lock found, assume cable was cut. White guy seen on video riding bike into building car garage at about 6:30PM in day light.

The thief used a piece of paper, shaped it into a harder Bic pen cap like sized shape and picked my longer size u lock, pryed apart one end and took my bike. I am going to get it back.

I left the bike locked in front of my building overnight. It was gone, along with all traces of the lock, in the morning.

Came home from work, my porch had a rung smashed and my bike, which was attached to the porch, was gone. There is some blood around where the bike was stolen from. Happened late sunday night or early monday morning. It was locked to the porch with a newer U lock w/flat key. It's a bright yellow bike. Black U lock attached to frame now I think. May have some blood on the bike because the thief bled on my porch.

Have not completed the police report yet, but was locked to a wooden staircase. The stairwas was broken and the ulock still attached to the bike.

I locked my bike at 640am to the bike racks right next to Illinois Eye and Ear infirmary building by Taylor Street at the medical district. When I came back around 2 30 pm I saw my bike was not there.

Bike was placed on 2nd floor deck. There is no viewing point from downstairs alleyway. Bike was unlocked for the day. Came back late last night around 1am. Bike was still there. Heard some commotion outside around 3am but figured it was the neighbors. The only one who could see that my bike was unlocked is the 3rd floor neighbor. Suspect number one.

My bike was locked to a metal fence outside of an apartment building. The fence was not damaged when I came out of the building three hours after locking up my bike.

I locked the bike around 9:30 and it was gone along with the lock in the morning.

We were sleeping and it woke us up. It stunned us for a few moments while we collected ourselves, then I noticed the keypad stated the Overhead Garage Door was open. Reflexively my girlfriend pushed the garage door button on her keychain remote and started the door closing process. The garage chime went off again and she closed it again while I was on the phone with the alarm company on our porch, which overlooks the garage but can only be accessed from the 2nd floor of our home. Once the police arrived about 20 minutes later, we walked the garage and upon first glance all looked fine... but when we looked a little closer, we noticed that my girlfriends car had been rummaged through and the bike was missing. We filed a police report with the officers. The factory next door has security footage of the alley that the garage door is in. We asked them to see it and at around 4:36 AM an African American male probably early or mid 30's in jean shorts, a light colored button up shirt with short sleeves, and a Chicago Cubs baseball cap with a bent rim, probably around 6 feet tall or maybe shorter, of average build, looking a bit on the stocky side, walks through a neighbors yard, past two bikes that were unlocked on their porch, around the corner, down the alley, and then directly to my garage. At about 4:39 AM you can see him sneaking past the fence with my bike in the video. This is likely the same time I am making noise on our porch with the alarm company on the phone, right after the garage chimed the second time. A few seconds later the footage shows him unwrapping my unlocked wire-and-key integrated bike lock and toss it into the alley as he walks away casually with my bike. A few mysteries: How did he open an overhead garage door so fast? He did not have any equipment with him. The garage door is like 9 feet high, he could not have wedged/hooked the emergency release... He somehow knew the keypad code or had a remote or some amazing trick like that. I don't know. Thank you for reading. I realize it is a long shot, but I just want to get the bike back.

I live in Cincinnati but work in Chicago (at 225 N. Michigan Ave, 16th floor) usually four days per week. Since I do not own or rent any property here, I lock my bike on high-traffic sidewalks. On Thursday, June 28 at 3 p.m. CDT, I locked my bicycle in a rack at 225 N. Mich. Ave. When I returned to my office at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, July 5, the bike was missing. (Since the theft could have occurred any time between 6/28 and 7/5, I am listing the time of discovery as the incident time.)

Someone stole both of our bikes. they were locked to each other and locked to the rack with the same cable and padlock. no police report filed because we are leaving in the morning to go back to Detroit...where coincedentally we have never had a problem with our bikes.

I was out of town Thursday morning to Saturday night. I believe the bike was stolen during this time. The bike is parked inside a high fence, facing an alley. I believe the fence gate was unlocked, or the lock was picked, and the burglar gained access to the back porch area.

I locked my bike up to the rack along the street. Went into Park Grill for about 15 minutes. Came out and it was gone.

I walked my bike from Stanton park to Sully's bar. I was walking with friends from my softball team. I locked it to a bike rack outside REI since their are no bike racks at Sully's. Someone may have watched me walking the bike and then later cut the lock.

I locked my bike at midnight and woke up at 5 a.m. to find my bike and lock missing. No debris left over.

The thief they have on footage was wearing red and white gym shoes, black tee shirt, cap and has a tattoo on his left calf. Per the video, he stole the bike between 12 and 12:15pm. Shows he was on a dark color bike- black maybe blue canvassing then came back on foot and stole our daughters bike. Late teens early 20's, Hispanic.
