The man is about 5'8", short hair, had a faded Illinois baseball cap on. Definitely a planned and not an opportunist. this occured at the 4800 block of N Hoyne Ave and N Hamilton Ave

The bike was locked to a metal bike rack at the intersection of Wacker and Dearborn in downtown Chicago at the south east corner of the bridge (next to the Riverwalk entrance). I had locked the bike securely with a U lock to the metal pole via the rear wheel and bike frame at around 1pm on 9/4/2020. When I returned to the scene at about 3pm I found the bike and lock missing. Instead there was another blue old bike parked in its location. This bike was not locked so I suspect the person who rode this bike left it at the spot and stole my bike instead.

We were able to catch him on a neighbors camera exiting the alley. We live in Ravenswood on the 4800 block of N Hoyne Ave. This occurred at 245am. The man is about 5’8”, fairly built, short hair, no visible tattoos.

I bought this bike on Craig's List but put some money to make it ride-ready. It's a full-size folding bicycle by Montague of their "Paratrooper" series. It came as a plus for people who bought Hummer SUVs, stowed, folded in the back. I installed a handlebar extender. The handlebar also had a red bell, a clip-on bag (black with a yellow release button - there was a bungee cord and a lock cable inside) as well as a cell-phone holder. I installed a rack in the back.

They said they couldn't give me the videos, but could review and look for suspicious activity.

My bike was stolen last night at the 7-Eleven at Belmont and Racine on Sunday, August 30th, at 4:15am. Looks just as pictured here, except it currently has a new Brooks cambium saddle. I was inside for ten seconds. The clerk yelled out to me. Apparently, some young black in a black SUV/Jeep pulled up, one of the men got out and started riding the bike east on Belmont. The vehicle was peeling out of the parking lot as I ran out.
