Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Stolen from locked basement, along with at least one other bike belonging to my husband, possible neighbors' bike as well, other items.

In shared locked basement of a small condo association (trusted neighbors). A number of bikes were found missing. Not sure exactly when they disappeared, sometime between Mon 8/22 afternoon and Wed. 8/24 early morning

Bike was locked to a bike rack at the Clyborun Metra Station on 7/29 at 7:00am and was not found at return the following day 7/30 at 12pm.

The bike was parked at 1pm in a haigh-traffic area. Upon return at 5pm, the bike was gone. There was a part of the lock which was left, which spirals in and out that attaches to the frame of the bike. The bike was completely taken other than that. RECOVERY NOTES: On 8/26, former victim sent an email containing the following text. "[J]ust want to know that yesterday I got my bike back. I went to the Swap-O-Rama yesterday morning but didn't see it. I had been checking Craigslist continuously, and around noon yesterday, a little less than 48 hours since it had been stolen, it posted in Humboldt Park. I texted the guy posing as a buyer, called the police and they accompanied me to the pick-up in Lincoln Park. Thank you so much for your help!"

Left bike locked outside my apartment overnight. Was missing in the morning

Locked front wheel and frame to bike rack while gone 1 hour. Locked outside open cafe with full front glass storefront. Thief opened lock, leaving it alightly damaged, and took bike. Photo found online of same bike so does not include rack or fenders.

Bike was locked to the bike rack directly in front of Bucktown Athletic Club at 2040 W. North Ave. It was locked there from 11:30-1:30 when I went out and discovered it missing.

I had this in my apartment complexes courtyard bike rack. It was locked to a bike rack and my moped. The thief broke off the bars from the bike rack and broke the shock on my moped it was also locked around. They took it in the middle of the night and most likely gained access through a broken gate lock or from someone letting them in. They took everything they dislodged including moped bolts and the lock

I locked my bike last night to the bike rack at 6 pm and came back this morning to find it gone.

Found bike to be missing in front of work where I had been for 9 hours.

Bike was locked to back 3rd floor balcony of apartment. Bike was locked with chain threaded through front wheel and connected to U lock with U lock connecting frame and back wheel to balcony post. Balcony post was broken off and bike was removed. Incident happened between 5:50pm and 11:35pm Saturday night

I was working at the Chicago River Canoe and Kayak at Clark Park in Chicago. My bike was in the garage where we store all our boats. Someone was hanging around the area for a while and we became a little suspicious of him. We were helping customers into the water and next thing we knew was my bike was gone. I suspect this individual hanging around the area ran off with my bike however we did not actually see him do it. I asked people around the park if they saw someone ride off with a red bike and some individuals confirmed they did.

A Lane Tech soccer team practice was being held on Rockwell Turf at 3400 N Rockwell. The kids had their backpacks and bikes in a pile while they practiced/scrimmaged unlocked. Ours was ridden away on during the scrimmage. The picture below is not the exact bike but one from online shopping since we did not have our own photo.

I walked into my basement storage space in my building this morning to get my bike and it was missing. The thief cut my bike lock and stole my bike.

Bike was in my personal garage that's locked/shut at all times. It was hanging on a bike rack against the garage with my husbands bike (which was also stolen). In the attached picture it's the bike on top. Husband's bike is on the bottom but we don't have the serial number/information for that one.

Bike was stolen from locked, detached garage on alley. Appears to be very targeted. There are many bikes left unlocked in my neighborhood, but someone was observant to know an expensive bike was in my garage and targeted it specifically. House is close to synagogue (active construction zone for 6 months) with dead end alley. Bike was built by hand and has important value to owner.

My bikes were locked together through the wheels and frame and rack that they were stored on. The thief broke into our garage; sawed through the rack; pulled the chain through the opening he made; and took both bikes that were also locked together. RECOVERED: on 7/7/2017 victim wrote: "This bike has been recovered thanks to your website.  J is my wife.  Someone found the bike at a flea market and was able to track her down from the serial number and return the bike to her. Thanks!"

Bike was kept under stairs in locked back lobby of small condo building along with other bikes and baby strollers. My bike was the only item stolen. No police report filed

Last saw the bike at Thursday 8pm locked to a wooden staircase at backyard of apartment, when I woke up in the morning on Friday, it was missing. The lock was cut open and left at the same place.
