Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Young 20 year old Caucasian man on foot was walking in our alley and unfortunately our garage was open and he stole the bike. We have video surveillance of the man. Report given to police.

I left my bike under the back porch stairs in front of the basement overnight. Gone by the next day.

My wife and I had ridden to the Salvation Army Thrift store located at 509 N Union Ave from our apartment in River West. We arrived at approximately 2:30pm and locked our two bikes together through a bike rack with a single cable lock. We were shopping for approximately 45 minutes and when we returned outside, her bike was stolen along with the cable lock. My bike was still leaning against the bike rack with no cable lock to be found. This is our third day living in Chicago and this was our first bike venture outside of our apartment. I am starting to rethink our decision to move here.

In closed, locked room with all other bikes in building. Someone entered building by either jimmying open door or caught it when someone left. My bike only one taken. Threw my lock and cable aside, took bike.

The bike was shut up in an enclosed area behind our condo building. The area was not visible from the alley and the only outside access to the area was a 9' locked gate. The bike disappeared sometime between 1pm and 4am.

Bike is routinely locked in my alleyway but had just come back to see it missing today. It was there at 10 pm last night, but was noticed missing this morning.

Bike was leaning on my friends locked bike on his porch for about 1hr. I had a lock hanging to the handlebars but did not lock it because I was too trustworthy it would not get stolen due to the age/condition of bike and time of day, and the fact I would be taking it home very shortly. When I came downstairs in about an hour the bike was gone. Did not file police report because bike not worth very much, but it has sentimental value.

I got the bike 2 days ago and had it stored in my garage. The lock was attached to the bike but it was not locked to anything in the garage. The bike is brand new. I last saw the bike at 2 pm on August 4. At 3 pm on August 5 I saw the bike was gone. The bike had a wicker basket and a Kryptonite 2' cable and a Kryptonite U-Lock in the basket. They took everything except my helmet, which was left on the floor.

Between 6pm July 29 and 2pm July 30 someone broke into locked garage via security door and stole two bikes: both are Specialized globe daily step throughs. One is blue, medium. The other silver and small.

Bike was locked by cable lock to a solid steel garage frame. Parked in garage around 5 PM overnight. Discovered stolen at 9 AM this morning. Garage door was closed and all entrances locked. Cable cut and left

The guy had rode off with the bike out off riis park. The guy was a brown black male with ear piecings and carried a black bookbag. Bystanders say he goes to Steinmetz and lives around there. *On August 6, 2016 the victim reported that he'd recovered his bike.*

My bike was stolen from my garage while I was at home with my family. The garage was unlocked since I had a contractor with his tools working on stuff for the house. The thief waited for the time when the contractor left the garage, walked up and took my bike. If this guy is not afraid just to walk up to some one's house daytime while everyone is home, I would be careful.

Bike was locked on back porch along alley. Was present when leaving for work at 7AM. Missing when I arrived at my apartment around 5:15PM. Thief likely assumed everyone was away at work. Girlfriend's car was not in our parking spot which assured them no one was home. There was a handyman/worker working on neighbors house next door that had parked in our spot most of the day, says he remembered seeing bike on our porch when he arrived in the morning. I approached him, asked if he had seen anyone suspicious walking around during the day. I even asked to look in the back of his truck as if he may have been the person with the tools to break my lock. It of course was not there although it's obviously possible he could have driven away during the day to stash it and come back.

Bike was locked to my partners bike at a bike park outside of the Francisco Brown Line station. My bike was secured with a cable thru both bikes. Partner's bike had a cable thru my bike and also a U lock. Although they cut the cable the U lock was not compromised and the bike was not stolen.It appeared that other bikes had been stolen too as the ground was littered with at least three other cables also a bike headlight. I had locked my bike at 2 PM and upon returning on the train at 10 PM bike was gone. Reported stolen bike to police, Address was 4744 N Manor

I'm not sure as to when it happened because it was stolen out of my storage room in my building at some point and I don't ride it or visit that room every day, so can't pinpoint when or at what time it happened. I BELIEVE it was locked to a bike rack with a U-Lock, but am not 100% positive that it was locked. I've attached a stock photo of the bike from the Trek website.
