Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I have let a couple people borrow my bike before but they always return it. What is strange about this incident is that the bike was "safely" propped up against a wall inside my home in the living room. I live in an artist loft that hosts a lot of events and we have a big open living room, but whenever we have an event, we put our bikes in a bedroom and lock the door to avoid situations like this. The weekend before last, I let my brother borrow it to grab food but I watched him return and bring the bike back inside. I used the bike one other time after this and the last time I visually saw it inside my home was probably on Wednesday or Thursday of last week. I didn't really pay much attention to the location of my bike after that because as I mentioned I usually just leave it sitting in my living room and kind of figured it would be ok just being left there since I've been keeping it in that room for many many many months now. I've been riding my motorcycle more than bike riding these days so for the last week my bike has just been stationary sitting in my home. This morning I decided to change it up a bit and ride my bicycle to work instead which is when I noticed it randomly was not in my living room any more. I asked all 3 of my roommates and none of them had it in their bedroom. Basically, at some point since last Wednesday or Thursday, my bike mysteriously vanished from INSIDE my home and no one has any clue as to where it might be or who might have "borrowed" it. I was certainly never asked by anyone to borrow it. This post is mostly just to get people to potentially keep an eye out for it somewhere. I'm honestly kind of astounded and confused as to how it could just vanish from inside my home, especially considering we have a locked front gate as well as a locked front door. We DID have one of our front door keys go missing recently, but it seems strange to me that someone would steal the key and then come back just so they could steal my bicycle and that is it, nothing else is missing from our place. Doesn't make sense to me. This whole thing is a gigantic confusing mystery. Like mentioned above, basically, picture this bike, but with straight handlebars and no logos and stickers all over it. I locked the bike up at 8:00 am on Ohio st just west of Wells, came back downstairs from my office at 4 and the bike was gone.

Stolen sometime between 7/25/2015-7/28/2015. Bike was stored in the parking space behind the SUV with all the kids bikes. Discovered it was stolen on Wednesday, 7/29/2015. Bike was locked through the frame to a number of other bikes with a combination cable lock, but not to anything sturdy or solid.

My wife's bike and mine were locked to a metal fence and both bikes were stolen.

My bike was parked on the side/front of my house in my yard locked to the south fence. I saw my bike was gone and noticed a chain link was cut, I'm assuming they cut the fence and took my bike with the lock still attached.

the bike's lock was right next to it, but bike not locked up. My daughter forgot. It was locked up last night at 5:00p.m. and and gone by 6:00 am

Call the 911 when I found out my bike was stolen, I saw the kids with it 10 minutes later, call 911 to report I found the kids with my bike riding along Clarendon & Agatite stealing more bike. Then I call the 911 third time when they were sitting with all these bikes by Wilson & Hazel at the uplift community highschool. No cops show or call me back. I waited almost two hours.

I left the bike within a fenced in cage in the parking garage of the Merchandise Mart that requires two FOB key passes to get into. The cage itself has barbed wire atop of it, and is only accessible by climbing the door of the cage itself. After parking my bike in this location at roughly 3:00 pm CST Friday, 7/31/15, I returned to find it missing on 8/3/15, at roughly 10:00 am CST.

I left my Bike locked through both wheels (cable) and attached (lock) to the post outside of Eduardo's Enoteca on Dearborn. I've kept my bike here numerous times throughout the last 2 months. I checked my bike Saturday night at 12:00AM and when I checked again the next morning it was missing except for the front tire and lock (picture included). There was a clean and professional cut to the bike lock that seemed very professionally executed.

Hanging out at a friend's apartment. Bike was gone, and lock was gone when I tried to leave.

Bike was left overnight in a friend's locked storage room. Several other bikes of varying condition were stored in room, without being locked up. My friends mountain bike and mine were the only two taken. They have stored their bike there for over a year with no prior issues. Left it at 11pm last night, they checked in on it at 6pm today to find both bikes gone, but my helmet still there.
