I locked my bianchi bike to the no parking pole and sign last Friday night right outside my apartment on Flournoy still. When I walked outside the next morning and it was gone. There were scratch marks on the pole but the top sign was still intact. No sign of the lock being broken. I don't know how they stole the bike. U-lock was attached through front tire and frame of bike.

The thief took a cinder block that was in the yard and smashed the wooden bannister where the bike was locked (newer u-lock w/flat key). I was not home, but my boyfriend heard a sound and went outside and saw the thief riding away down our alley. They did not steal our other bicycle which was only locked to itself nearby (a Trek Allant), so they knew the value of the Bianchi. They also left behind a bag of Flamin' hot Cheeto's and a nearly empty bottle of Colt 45. The bike has a Planet Bike Brand rear rack, a Bontrager saddle, and a Knog Blinder 4 front light. The Kryptonite Series 2 lock is most likely still attached to the bicycle.

I keep my and my girlfriends bike in our back storage unit which is connected to our back door, it has another door leading to the side gangway of our building. that door also locks, which is why I dont lock the bike when it is stored there. The landlord is doing work to the exterior of the building and the workers who received a key from the landlord are using that storage space for tools and using the outlets in there to power their tools. They left the door open and the side gangway gate open while they were working and apparently while they left the job site as well. I left for work at 6am 10/10/14 and returned 330 pm 10/10/14 to find my bike missing and the gate and door unlocked and opened.

When stolen: it had 'DOG WALKER' and 'GMD' in reflective stickers along the top of the lower bar, a plain black bike rack on the back, on the far back, left side of the bike rack, there a bright silver chipped away spot from rubbing against a screw on my bike bag that rides on that side daily. The u-lock bike lock holder is mounted in to center. Brand new women's bike seat, just replaced the last one that was stolen not two months ago. Cheapy front and back bike lights. IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN SOMEONE IN OUR BUILDING, BECAUSE NOBODY CAN GET IN OFF THE STREET AND INTO THE BUILDING. WE BELIEVE IT WAS OUR MAINTENANCE GUY, HIS NAME IS JIMMY. WHEN I CONFRONTED HIM ABOUT IT, HE GOT ALL NERVOUS AND SHAKY. THIS HAPPENED ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER HE SAID TO EVERYONE TO BE CAREFUL AND KEEP THE DOOR SHUT THAT SOMEONE COULD COME IN AND TAKE THE BIKES (BUT THE DOOR SHUTS REAL FAST BEHIND YOU AND LOCKS RIGHT AWAY). GO FIGURE OURS WAS THE ONLY ONE STOLEN OUT OF THE 5 BIKES IN THERE. WE HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH HIM ALREADY. THIS HAPPENED ON SAWYER AVENUE (2200 BLOCK NEAR PALMER) IN LOGAN SQUARE.
