Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was locked at about 9:10am, completely gone when I returned at 12:00pm

Cargo bike was locked in front of home to a sign. Both wheel lock and thick keyed cable lock were in use. Neither were found at the scene. We are fairly sure it was spotted still locked at 7a on Monday, but no confirmation on that.

My bike was stolen within a residential building that needs an access code to enter. (

Bike was locked in bike room. Several other bikes were stolen, locks included.

The bike was locked to the bike racks located on the south-east corner of the intersection of Madison St. and Clinton St. There were at least 6 bicycles locked to the racks Tuesday afternoon, and when I made it back to the bike Wednesday morning there were two bikes left attatched to the bike racks. Both bikes were secured with a very heavy duty U-style lock. I cannot speculate on how the bike was stolen other than someone cut the cable and made off with the bike.

Bike was stolen in front of gas station at Huron and Ashland. surveillance video showed a young kid and a black hoodie. Along with my bike being stolen there was also an iPad Stolen out of a woman's car in the parking lot it just right before by the same person.

Bike was taken from a locked storage unit in my condo building's parking garage. It was not locked to anything inside the garage. Thieves gained access by breaking the lock that was on the storage unit door.

Another person's bike seat was stolen around the same time.

Bike was locked up with U-lock outside of Columbia College Chicago. Bike was fine, but seat and seatpost (and attached tool bag) were stolen. No quick-release, but secured via a standard allen screw. Another student's bike was stolen at the same time, had only been locked up since 3:45pm, so about a two hour window. Combo for lock on toolbag is 0152.

I walked inside to open the back gate at work to bring my bike in, didn't see anyone in the alley or street. When I came out the back to open the gate the bike was gone and my helmet was left on the ground.

Landlord called in the report while the theft was taking place. The bike and the person were gone by the time the police arrived on the scene. An African American male with a dark hoodie and camouflage pants was seen using a torch to remove the lock. The lock was in great condition, it was a brand new u-lock with combination and was used to lock up both the front tire and the frame of the bike.

I parked my bike outside of UIC's Library of Health Sciences located at 1750 W. Polk, Chicago, IL 60612 from 8:00am-12:00PM to a bike rack after which I left class to realize my bike nor my lock was there.

Stolen from an open garage when I went to drop off at school. Nothing else was stolen.

Someone (who could see my bike was only locked frame to wheel) climbed over the fence and carried it out of the back yard gate.

Walked outside to find pole void of my bike. No lock found either. Rechecked this morning,out of disbelief. Seems sign was lifted out and put back in place. At corner or California and Milwaukee.

Condo in hi-rise at Washington and Halsted burglarized while sleeping. Took bike and small electronics. Building security has footage. AA male in a black hoodie at 3:10 am. I was home and sleeping.

We accidentally left our garage door open, and the unlocked bike was taken. I keep my bike parked in the garage unlocked because the door is usually closed.

Our two bikes were locked to a street sign right in front of Seattle Suttons @ 2154 N. Damen, at the southwest side of Damen. Only one storefront north of The Bristol Restaurant, with a buzzing brunch crowd today. When we went left a friends, our lock was cut and the Republic bike was stolen, cut lock laying on the ground. My wifes curiser left untouched, and a little white BMX bike (with a red sticker on the frame) was left unlocked leaned against the Seattle Suttons brick wall in front of our bikes. It's pretty clear the thief rode this little BMX bike to steal. It was left there after and the BMX bike had clearly been spray painted white, as there were splatters of spray paint around the inner chain guard and stem which were black. We spoke to a witness named JP. JP was headed to his friends house and walked up on a suspicious looking middle aged guy leaning against the Seattle Sutton building sitting next to his tiny white BMX bike. As he passed the thief (we have a detailed description),the guy/bike is on his left and JP remembers seeing our bikes locked up to the pole to his immediate right. He knew something weird was going on bc the thiefs bike was so out of place, he was awkwardly loitering next to the other two bikes and had a big bag of fruit & other stuff in his hand friends house in front of where the bike was stolen and the theif was present. He said he saw a middle aged guy (we have a description) sitting on the BMX bike looking out at our bikes locked up and he had a bag of fruit in his hand and something else he didn't make out. If anyone has info, this has sentimental value as it was a wedding gift from my wife. Thanks
