Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I biked home late from work and put by bike in my gated back yard and somebody yanked it by dawn.

Bike was left outside Walgreens in front of Belmont Avenue very close to Belmont train station. I witnessed the guy take the bike. Probably late teens to mid twenties. He also had an all black Oakley back pack with a grey O on it. He drove down Racine avenue and I couldn't catch him. Please keep an eye out for this bike. All black trek with white letters.

Somehow someone got in our garage and stole my bike.

Bike stolen between 3:00am and 6:00am on Sunday September 14. Lock was a heavy duty steel cable, must have been cut and taken with the bike.

Had left bike outside apartment for a few days locked to a short metal fence through the front wheel/frame. Hadn't consciously checked it in a couple days and then when I went to get it the morning of Sept. 13, 2014 I found only the lock still fastened to the fence but no other signs of the bike or broken objects.

It was only the front wheel of my bike that was stolen; however, I believe reporting the act of any theft is imperative to Chicago's bike-friendly initiatives. My bike, which is only about 4 months old and in great condition, was locked up to a metal parking meter pole directly outside of Rustic House restaurant in Lincoln Park (at the corner of Halsted and Armitage Ave.) while having dinner at Taco Joint. It was rainy and cold

My roommate saw a shady character roaming around all of our back porches. Went inside, my bike was gone when he came back out 20 minutes later.

Bike left in locked College machine shope. Wheels locked to frame with a U-Lock each. Bike and U-Locks now missing.

Bike was stolen some time on Sept 12th between 12:30 AM - 9:15AM. An attempt to cut the ULock occurred roughly 3 or 4 days prior and rubber around ULock was torn and lock was bent. Bike rack was located right outside apartment.

The bike had been locked to itself in the vestibule of a friends building where I had been house sitting for three days. I last saw it at 8pm, Thursday, Sept. 11th. I went downstairs at 11:30am this morning (Friday, Sept. 12th) to find that the bike, lock & chain had been stolen. Only my helmet was left behind. This leaves me to believe that it was taken by a neighbor or friend of a neighbor as the thief would have had to bypass 2 security doors to get to my bike, but I have no proof of this. There are 2 other bikes locked to themselves in the exact same area.

I locked the bike in a back staircase that is normally locked. It is likely that someone did not fully close the back door, someone came in the area and clipped the lock then stole the bike.

Happened between 5 PM on Tuesday and 6 PM Wednesday. Bike was locked in shared garage (Shared with one other family), door of which faces an alleyway. There were three other very nice bikes and one okay bike in the garage, but mine was the only thing taken. My bike was hidden behind a car, so someone would have had to know the bike was there or come look around before deciding on it.

I rode bike to store and came back and brought groceries in. Went downstairs to check email and I heard a noise and didn't realize what was happening. I went upstairs and saw it was missing.

Bicycle was removed from a shared garage in a condo building. Bike was locked to other two bikes using 2 locks (U lock + heavy duty steel cable). Three bikes and two locks were stolen. Photo shown is dated. Handle bar cover has been replaced with hot pink tape; brakes have been replaced and relocated to center of handle bar. Frame is as shown in picture.

Bike was locked to itself with a U lock and looked to a light pole with a heavy duty security chain. Both parts are missing. The bike was there this morning when i left for work, and was missing when I got back tonight. I assume the locks were cut.

I locked my bike outside my apartment to a fence surrounding a planter around 12am Tuesday night. Other bikes are locked here and the fence itself was not compromised. I did not look for my bike this morning when I woke up but when I returned home around 11am my bike, along with the U-lock and the cable securing the front tire were gone. I live near UIC school of medicine campus and I believe a professional must have done this seeing as my bike was securely locked. There are plenty other bikes locked on my street but there are a few old striped down bikes as well. I had too nice of a bike to leave locked outside but I figured on a Tuesday night it would be ok. I have not seen any questionable people in my neighborhood but I have heard that there are a lot of thefts and muggings since students carry laptops ect.
