Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I kept my bike on my porch of my apartment with the gate locked. I live on the 3rd floor of my building and the porch is only accessible from our backyard. Someone must have seen the bike on the porch, picked the lock, and took my bike.

I rode my bike to work in the loop. Had a flat tire, so I locked it up on the side of the building to pick it up by car later. Came back to get it the next day, lock was cut and bike was gone.

My partner and I had an appointment in a building on the corner of Sheffield Avenue and School Street. We were lucky to find an empty bike "rack" (it's actually one of those metal structures that resembles a bicycle, intended for locking up your bike) right outside the front door of the building. To minimize the space our bikes would take up, we looped the cable lock through out front wheels and frames and locked them to one end of the rack. There were many other bikes locked on the street so we felt comfortable leaving them here. We went and grabbed some dessert, and came back to the building 20 minutes later, the bikes were still there. We entered the building for an appointment. Upon exiting the building an hour later, the bikes were gone. We did not file a police report because we thought many bikes are stolen in Chicago everyday...we assume they're gone for good. But we'll do so now.

Locked up to husband's bike on 3rd floor back deck which is only accessible via the units of the building and a code secured back gate. Code is widely know to other tenant's friends and visitors. Came home from work to missing bikes.

My and my wife's bikes were locked up on the 3rd floor back porch which is secured through a combo locked gate. Unfortunately many visitors to the building know the code from tenants giving it out. We came home from work and noticed they were missing.

Bike was locked outside of weegee's to a street sign.

The bike was stolen from the Irving Park blue line stop, on the south side of the street. I locked it up with my helmet before I got on the train, around 7:30 am. Then when I got off the train, my bike was gone, around 5 pm. The picture included is not my actual bike, just a photo from online. The flowers on my bike were off-white. I tried 311 but I am waiting to hear back from an officer. I told the CTA agent on duty and she said I'm not the first person who has reported a stolen bike.

Bike locked on the west side of canal street, right infront of union station. cameras were very near by.

Bike was locked to a rack at Kingsbury and Hubbard across from the gym. Locked it to rack along with many other bikes at 6pm. Returned at 9pm, bike was gone.

I locked the bike up at the corner of Foster and Sheridan in front of McDonalds to a bike rack at around 11 pm. Im assuming that the 8foot Onguard combination cable was cut and the bike was stolen.I woke up in the morning to unlock it and the bike was nowhere to be found.

Bike was in backyard and was taken from backyard.

Sometime in the morning of May 28th, possibly 8 am, the bike was stolen out of the rear of my car, which was parked directly in front of my house. Back window of car was broken, door opened and bike and front wheel (which was not attached) were removed. Witness says suspicious black car seen near scene of crime right before it was discovered at 8-9am.

All my wheels and seat are locked by special screws. I have left my bike here for years and this morning it was gone!

Went to grab a late lunch at The Dock on Montrose beach. Arrived around 3pm and locked the bike to the rack on the East end. Returned an hour later and the U-lock had been cut through. 2012 Specialized Hardrock Disc 29rer with continental hybrid tires. Yellow and black with phone mount on handlebars.

The bike was locked by the Western blue line around 12 and around 8 when I got off work was missing along with lock.

Sometime between 8 AM and 8 PM today my bike was stolen from the garage area where I park. I recently started locking my bike next to my parking spot because it was too difficult for me to carry up and down the stairs to my apartment. It was locked in a corner, directly next to where I park my car. I suspect that someone may hang out in that corner over night and there were signs that the bike may have been urinated on (noticed on Saturday).

Bike was in a gated parking pad, in a shed with heavy duty keyed padlock. I found the lock missing, shed and gate open this morning close to noon. There is a second bike in the shed, but only one was taken. Either someone was hoping to get lucky opening a random shed, or had seen me store the bike in there.

the downstairs neighbors left a door unlocked that goes into the storage room where there were at least ten different bikes. The their came in through that door some time in the night and took my girlfriends Trek. The person must have been going house to house looking for unlocked doors because the back door isn't easy to spot.
