Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was brought into a friends locked and enclosed back yard and leaned up against a friend's already locked bike under the stairs. I was only running in to grab a friend to have the front flat tire repaired but we had to wait for the downpour to stop. Once the rain calmed down, I went downstairs to grab the bike and it was gone.

Left bike on East side of Canal St across from Ogilivie Trans center on Friday after work, bike was gone on Monday AM. Locked with cable and u lock.

The bike and bike seat was locked to a bike post outside of my employment on Fri June 20th from 12noon - 5:10 p.m. The cable was wrapped through the bike seat and connected to the ulock. They cut through the cable. They left the ulock and broken cable.

i locked up the bike with my cable and masterlock to a pair of small trees behind our apartment building. i left the bike at 1pm. i went to ride again around 4:45pm and the bike was gone. lock had been cleanly cut and left on the ground. many other bikes around my bike and no others were bothered.

My bike was locked up to a pole of a scaffolding structure in front of an apartment building with closed businesses on the ground floor. Thief removed two bolts that connected the pole to the rest of the scaffolding, and removed my bike as well as my neighbors'. Both of my wheels were locked with a kryptonite cable connected to Abus' mini u-lock. It happened sometime during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 19, 2014 (between 11pm and 6am).

Bike was stolen while locked up overnight at my apartment. The patio was broken and they must have slipped the U lock through the fence. I think the U lock is still attached to the frame.

My room mate left the bike unlocked in our gated, locked, and fenced in back yard.

Left bike out and locked overnight, which is very rare. Thieves must have been targeting me because there are many bikes out on my block every single night and never get bothered.

BIKE WAS STOLEN FROM MY YARD. THE GATE WAS NOT LOCKED PROPERLY. MY YOUNGER SISTER SOMETIMES RODE IT TO HIGHSCHOOL. I THINK IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY A TEENAGER OR YOUNG ADULT. IT WAS SEEN AROUND SIX IN THE MORNING AND NOTICED MISSING AROUND 3PM.

Bike fall, injured, couldn't walk bike home, bike gone when came back later.

Burglar entered residence and stolen bike when we weren't home. Other valuables were in plain sight, but nothing was taken except for the bike. Believed that burglar may have prior knowledge about our residence and bike.

we think individual climbed into our 2-car garage through a window. the individual must have removed the screen, took only one bike (left the other bike) and then left through the door. therefore we think it was one person who was on foot (reasoning for only taking the one bike).

Stolen during Old Town Art Fair. Locked well. Assume the Kryptonite U-bar lock was picked, because unlikely thief grinding done or broke lock in the middle of a large amount of foot traffic.

The bike was stolen from our locked garage. The bike was in the garage but wasn't locked.

After locking up my bike to the usual metal gate of a planter box located the Loop, I went back outside an hour and a half later to find it gone. A other bike was left at the scene with my hacked up cable and lock in a crate attached a rack. Footage drom a security camera on the Gap building at State and Washington shows a man ride up to my bike, get off of his, kneel down by rear wheel and remain there for a few minutes. After he finally cuts the the cable, he tosses it into the crate, walks to the street with mine, and rides off down State Street.

I noticed today morning that the bike was stolen. Couldn't find out any remains of the lock or the bike. It is strange that the bike got stolen from within the premises and the parking lot.

I had the bike inside my apartment kitchen and moved it outside on the deck with the intention of moving it to storage unit shortly after. I had changed clothes after getting rained on, then came back 10 minutes later and it was gone. The deck is enclosed in a locked gate and is not visible from the alley. I have reasons to believe this was a targeted theft, not random. My neighbor witnessed two males late teens/early 20s running out of the back gate.
