Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Bike was locked up outside Belden Racine Residence Hall on Depaul University Lincoln Park Campus.

The bikes were stored in a garage, which is normally locked. The garage door had a plastic wrapper stuck to the outside bottom such that when the door neared the ground, the wrapper tripped the sensor and the door re-opened.

Bike was on 2nd floor porch only accessible through locked gate. Was stolen sometime during the night. Thief would have had to scale fence and lift bike over it since gate must be unlocked by key from both inside and outside.

Bike was locked in front of Crate & Barrel at North and Halsted, along with many other bikes. Only mine was stolen.

My boyfriend bought me the bike this past weekend, I don't own a lock yet so we shared one. He took his with him on his bike to work today. I was home all day and it was in my clear site. I left the kitchen (that is off the back patio where there's a wooden enclosed private fence stretching 10 feet high) for a short time. when I came back it was gone. We are on the 1st floor. There is a locked entry/exit on both front and back of apartment. When I came out to investigate, the back door that auto locks from the inside when closed was wide open and a cement block was on the ground propping it from closing. Knocked on the neighbors doors, out of the 5 units on either side only 2 were home and they reported no knowledge or any suspicious activity or ever in the 2 years they've lived here. Couldn't see any signs of breaking and entering either. Someone came up to our porch and stole it making a hasty escape through the backdoor leaving it open.

African American male in late teens or early 20s walked up to my bike and ran off with it. I was unable to exit the building fast enough to reach him, but I saw it happen from inside through a large window.

I believe my bike was taken between the hours of 7:30p and 10P upon returning from a running group meetup and event from Benchmark. I saw the u-lock still attached to the pole with a part of the cable still attached to the lock. The person likely cut through the cable and took the bike since I did not have the u-lock on the frame but only on the cable that day. It was possible that the person rode away from north ave, towards w eugenie st, to avoid being seen by a busy street due to a part of a velcro attached to my cable was found farther down the street away from where my bike was locked.

Locked on fence in Humbolt Park during riot fest. I lost my keys at the fest, and was unable to bike home that night. Next day it was gone.

My bike was secured to my roof rack, i pulled in to a fast food restaurant and ran in, i ordered and kept glancing at the bike from the window inside, and went to wait in line. I came out and it was gone. Some people on the street said they saw the bike get taken, and have seen the person take bikes before. One of the witnesses suggested I offer them money to help me find them, at that point i stopped talking to them. Drove around the area for a bit, and saw nothing of my bike.

I think that a teenager walked up my back porch steps and took both my bike and my neighbor's bike. His was a new Red Schwinn and mine was an old white/silver Mongoose women's bike. Around 5:45, what I perceived to be a Latino teenager with shoulder-length hair walked up my porch steps and when he saw me he said he was looking for a friend. He said his phone was dead, then left. A couple hours later, I went out on the porch and the bikes were gone.

Within the past 24 hours someone used a large piece of wood to twist the lock until it broke. The took the bike and threw the detachable basket nearby on the sidewalk.

My bike was locked to a bike rack inside a laundry area, since either Thursday Sept. 12 or Friday Sept. 13 at a Roger's Park apartment building. Only the front wheel was locked with a cable (with integrated key lock) to the rack, which was secured in this manner several times before. When I went downstairs to retrieve the bike at 7 a.m. on Sept. 17, I found my front wheel still locked to the rack, but the bike frame and bike wheel were missing. If the frame was locked with the front wheel, it might have been more difficult for the robber. Only a person in possession of a key to the area could have gotten in, though it may also be someone who does not live there. There is a surveillance camera that may be checked in the meantime.

Bike was parked outside of a gym, next to a variety of other bikes. Person must have cut the cable out and taken the bike along. There were plenty of other bikes parked at the spot wher mine was at.

I locked my bike to the bike rack on the side of Sulzer Regional Library on North Lincoln. Went inside. When I returned, the bike was gone. Security guard in library noted, upon my report to her, that several other bikes had been stolen.

Bike was locked up at a rack next to Cafe Brauer at the Lincoln Park zoo. Me and my boyfriend had both of our bikes locked using the same cable lock right next to eachother and the criminal cut the wire, took mine, and left his.

When I left my apartment my bike was fine and locked to the iron fence outside my apartment building. There is also a chain link fence enclosing my building and my yard, but my bike was locked to the iron fence which separates my yard to my neighbors on the left if you're facing the building. The rear wheel and frame were U-locked to the iron fence and a cable was through the front wheel. I probably left between 5-6 pm and when I returned between 10-11 pm the fence had been broken and my bike and lock were gone. My roommate has a Schwinn bike and it was parked behind mine, but untouched. The iron pole was literally broken in two.

It was stolen from a locked gated area behind my condo building on logan square between 1:30 and 5:30pm on Friday August 30th. There were movers moving my neighbor out but they said they didn't leave the gate open and she was with them the whole time.
