Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Sign post was cut down and bike was slipped off with lock. (Newer U-lock with flat key).

I locked the bike up when I went in for work and when I came back out, the bike was gone. However, another bike was sitting at the locks - a black, rather small, beat-up bike, unlocked and resting against the bars. I don't know if it was related or not. NOTE: Image is not of my bike personally but is of the same model/coloring, found on Google.

I left the bike in front of an apartment building locked through both wheels and the frame to a metal fence. I have a cable and u-lock combo. The u-lock isn't big enough to fit through the fence so i lock the cable to the framewith the u-lock. So I used just my cable to lock it to the actual fence. I think the bike was stolen very early in the morning on sunday the cable was cut and half of it left at the scene. the other half is still probably hooked to the frame with the u- lock On Guard brand. The u-lock still is probably attached to the top part of the frame. I didnt find out it was stolen until 4 pm sunday.

Bike was on porch and was stolen sometime between Friday August 16th and Saturday August 17th.

I came out after the gym and saw only my front wheel and bike U lock attached to the bike rack. I must have only locked the front wheel to the rack (although I always lock body and wheel) but can't remember. So the bike will only have 1 wheel (the back wheel) attached.

My bike was locked next to my girlfriends bike on a bike rack in front of Jewel Osco on Southport ave in the lakeview neighborhood.

They obviously knew what they were doing, they only took my bike and another expensive bike even though there were 3 other unlocked bikes. It was in front of the Lincoln Park Zoo in broad daylight.

I work at 20S Wacker. I ride to work every day and lock it up on the Monroe side bike lock on the river walk between Rivers Restaurant and Monroe St. I rode in yesterday morning, 8/15, and went out for dinner and drinks after work with coworkers in-town from Singapore and Hong Kong. It was my co-workers last night in town and after a few drinks decided it would be best to leave it there as it was locked up under what I thought was securities watchful eye. I went for a run this afternoon and walked past the bike rack and it was gone, approximately 2:50 pm on 8/16. I believe it was taken sometime overnight, but can’t be certain as I am unsure if it was there after work yesterday. No cut lock left either. The bike is a few years older, but was originally just over $1500. As I recently started riding to work I’ve invested over $200 in repairs and upgrades within the last month or so. I came home from Roscoe Village Bikes after getting the bike tuned up around 8 pm on Aug. 15th and locked my bike with my Kryptonite U-Lock through the front wheel and frame to the metal fence inside my apartment building's side yard. A key is required to get through the front gate where my bike was locked to the fence. At 8:30 am on Aug. 16th, I went outside to go to work and my bike was gone, along with my lock. Someone must have either had access to the front gate of our apartment building or jumped the fence, then had to break the lock to steal my bike. I made sure the lock was working just after I locked it to the fence the previous night.

Bike was stolen between 8:00pm 8/14 and 9:30am 8/15 on Palmer Square close to Kedzie. It was locked both wheels and frame with cable and U-lock to a street sign which was pulled up and the bike was taken with the lock and cable still on. Please note that in the picture the bike has a blue seat cover but when stolen did not have the seat cover. I changed the platforms so they are now green.

got home to shower at 9:00 a.m. left my bike on my back deck (1/2 story up from sidewalk) locked the street door before going inside. music was loud in bathroom. got changed and came outside and bike was gone. construction guys working on the street (10+ guys) did not see anything.

Bike was locked within gated area outside of my work, I think the maintenance man of my work was sweeping the sidewalk and had the gate unlocked which I didn't know. Someone walked by and took the bike without the maintenance man knowing.

My bike was locked to the bike rack inside my apartment building. The only part of the bike that wasn't stolen was the fron tire and U-lock.

I securely locked both the front,rear wheel, and frame to a permanent bike rack outside of 600 W. Chicago Ave office building in clear view of building associates (smoker section) and visibility of security. I left it securely locked while I worked out at David Barton Gym. When I came outside ready to to leave, the bike and lock were missing. I spoke with security and they left it in their notes, but did not mention seeing any activity.

Locked bike thru both tires and frame to bike rack on Washington at Ogilvie transportation center, returned next morning, and bike was gone. BRAND NEW, had purchased bike that day.

Stolen while shopping in Sports Authority. The U Lock was believed to be secured to the fork and thieves most likely disengaged the quick release on the wheel and shimmied the bike out.

Bike was left in garage and garage door was accidentally left open overnight. Discovered that bike was missing in the morning.

My bike was locked on the street outside my office while I was at work. It was there when I returned from a late lunch around 2pm and it was gone when I was leaving around 6:30pm.
